Idaho police are investigating a white Hyundai Elantra found abandoned in Oregon for a possible link to the unsolved slayings of four college students last month.
Aware that Moscow, Idaho, officials were on the lookout for a vehicle fitting that description, Eugene police called the department to alert them to the car, which was badly damaged and had no license plates.
Idaho police have appealed for help finding a white 2011-2013 model Elantra seen in the “immediate area” of the off-campus home where the friends were stabbed to death in the early hours of Nov. 13

If this was some sort of contract killing, it’s going to be nearly impossible to solve.
I don’t think it was. Its personal. Some sort of beef or revenge killing.
.
They’ve said the car or car owner is not connected.
False alarm
Cops already determined this was not the car they were looking for.
Some girl left it abandoned
Random killings leave more clues than this, because they are unexpected. To leave almost no clues requires a lot of preparation.
An abandoned car, in the middle of nowhere would suggest to me there was a drop off point where another car was waiting.
No plates, at least to me, suggests they were probably taken off before the crime. If you just committed an unplanned crime, you’re trying to get out asap and taking the time to remove plates leaves you exposed to being identified.
You’re barking up the wrong tree
Pretty white women syndrome.
We shall see, but I am aware that one of the mothers of the girls was deep in debt to her dealer.
Every passing day makes this horrible crime more difficult to solve.
Somebody very smart killed these four young people.
This is sounding more and more like a Ted Bundy type of crime.
This is a murderous barbarian loose in the USA.
This is not national news. I have no idea why a New York paper would be covering it. There are tens of thousands of murders every year.
..which may involve Maddie bullying a roommate until the girl killed herself while her blonde buddies piled on. The media has spent a month telling us what innocent little darlings the victims were - they may find it difficult walking that back.
Wow, where did you find that? Just wondering.
I think it was a scorned guy who was rejected by one or more of the females. It seems as if there us a lot of anger involved in these murders. A lot of the younger generation don’t handle rejection well.
C’mon. You know why. This is the True Crime Whodunnit Parlor Game (tm) just like Natalee Holloway, Kelsey Berreth, Jon-Benet Ramsey and many others. Three blondies and a sleepover boyfriend are stabbed to death in one night with seemingly nobody noticing anything wrong until 11 a.m. the next morning.
I think the Elantra is not a key here. I would suspect ex-bf Jack, his roomie Adam (yes, the same Adam bartender Maddie told “everything” to) and Hoodie Guy whose possible role was to scout the two girls’ whereabouts and could text the other two when they were about to arrive home.
Cartel hit... somebody failed to pay up.
It is international news, at least the international media is covering it.
If you are not just joking, this is a monument to just how corrupt and depraved we have become as a people.
Google the name “Hannah Cleere”. She once lived with the others in that house. She was heavy-set with glasses and short straight brunette hair whom Maddie and the other blondies made clear was not up to their standards. Ms. Cleere committed suicide last February.
On one web page set up for remembrances of Maddie, a poster wrote “You deserve everything that happened to you the way you treated that poor girl. I’m saving up spit for when they put you in the ground.”
Instead of an episode of “Friends” this story may resemble “Mean Girls”.
