Peru has ordered the Mexican ambassador to leave within 72 hours after Mexico granted asylum to the family of ousted Peruvian President Pedro Castillo.
Mr Castillo was removed from office earlier this month after he tried to dissolve Congress....
...Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has called the removal of Mr Castillo undemocratic.
Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said on Tuesday the government was negotiating safe passage for the family of Mr Castillo, who were inside Mexico's embassy in the Peruvian capital Lima....
...Peru's foreign ministry said in its social media accounts that it was expelling Mr Monroy because "of the repeated statements by that country's highest authorities about the political situation in Peru".
Peruvian opposition legislator Maria del Carmen Alva accused Mexico of "sheltering the corrupt"....

On a serious note, I recently met a woman from Peru at a restaurant. I’ll have to ask her what is going on down there. Not sure when I’ll run into her again (when I’ll be there and if she’ll actually be working at that restaurant or another one she gets sent to work at)
If I remember correctly the former president was up on corruption charges and the Peruvian Congress was set to indict him. He texted to stop it by doing an emergency order to suspend the body but their Congress to include members of his own party removed him from office and the VP became president. She has declared limited martial law and is suppressing insurrection in parts of the country where his base “people” were in large numbers. I assume their Congress complete their work and want to jail him but he is hold up in the Mexican consulate looking for asylum.
Messed up. He ordered the dissolution of Congress, and was arrested. The issue with Mexico was over the asylum of his family in Mexico. It seems his wife is also being investigated for crimes too. Really weird situation with his family.
Wow - good thing we have no corrupt politicians here!
