For Hollywood, 2022 was truly an annus horribilis.
Major studios, streamers, cable providers, and other media giants lost a combined $542 billion in market value in 2022, with left-wing studios the Walt Disney Co., Netflix, and Comcast accounting for the bulk of the bloodshed.
The Dow Jones Media Titans index, which tracks the performance of 30 of the world’s biggest media companies, shed 40 percent this year, with its total market value declining from $1.35 trillion to $808 billion, according to a Financial Times report.
The losses outpaced indices for other sectors, including banking, which saw a 14.5 percent drop for the year, and telecommunications, which fell by 11.2 percent.
Hollywood’s horrible year was the result of a one-two punch of a downturn in the streaming market coupled with consumers continuing to cut the cord by the millions. In addition, the advertising market has cratered as households cut spending as the costs of essentials like food and energy continue to skyrocket due to President Joe Biden’s (D) disastrous economic policies.
Woke companies paid the highest price in 2022.

A movie with me-again and the half-wit prince would make billions, I tell ya!
Would be nice if Hollywood would learn from this and make more films like Top Gun.
My last theater visit for a Hollywod product, was in the mid-60s.
You can find a lot of great older movies and TV series on YouTube. I download them as MP4 files, transfer to my flash drive, then plug & play it on my big screen TV.
I have over 2,000 movies and TV episodes on my hard drive. A lot of great 1970s British TV series. I recently discovered Beasts, a 1976 horror anthology series that ran six episodes.
I like older stuff, partially because it transports me to a pre-trashy, pre-tranny, pre-woke era.
Same here. I like movies but most of the films I enjoy were made before 2000. I’ve seen only a few films in the theater in recent years. Dune, Rambo: Last Blood...wow I’m struggling to think of what else.
I’ll check out Beasts. I might like that.
Lost money even with ‘Till’ Directed by Chinonye Chukwu?
People just aren’t woke enough lately.
If anyone is interested there a couple of YouTube I subscribed to that cover and critique the Woke nonsense of Hollywood.
The Dave Cullen Show: “This channel is dedicated to Movie Reviews, Film critique, discussion of TV Shows, Pop Culture and Video Games in my usual caustic and sardonic manner.”

OverLord DVD. Not exactly sure what the deal is with this guy. He apparently works in the Hollywood industry or has some connection to it and wears a costume. He gets tips from people Hollywood. Can be funny and thoughtful. Some language though:

Honestly, I should learn the 21st century tech stuff and be like you. If I grow up someday I want to be more like you. I’m 76. I did the touch tone phone thing 😇
and I even have a laptop and use FR.
But still only have a burner phone like the criminals and no modern uses to replace by CDs, DVDs and printed books and magazines. I’ll be closed off from everything if the QR codes are a demand at stores and restaurants, etc.
I didn’t activate my Samsung TV’s internet capabilities and thanked myself when a smart younger guy I know bemoaned that the built in camera was watching and recording users’ facial reactions and the various things they decided to view on TV thanks to Samsung.
I’ve gone to a theater six times in the last 20 years
Master and Commander
Gods and Generals
Flight 93
Second Hand Lion (spur of the moment, enjoyed it)
300 (a disappointment)
Up (with my Buddy’s grandkids)
Dunkirk
Although I’ve got cable, topography and the NRQZ kinda reqire it, Hollyweird doesn’t make much off me.
Only movie I have seen in a theater in the last 5 years is “They Shall Not Grow Old”.
My dad, in the restaurant biz, taught me, “You put manure in, you get manure out.” In this case, manure out means nobody comes to see it.
I remember, when I lived with a friend of mine in Maryland, we had a roommate who is gay. He was quiet, and he didn't flaunt it, but he did watch the Logo channel, which is an LGBT cable channel. I remember once watching a scene in which this gay male character, who would have been a fine alpha male candidate, were he hetero, dissolved into complete sobbing hysterics.
The gay roommate simply said, "Drama queen."
No.
Try Bollywood. Wacky Dot Indians dancing weird dances to strange music.
Last I saw were good: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. and JoJo Rabbit. They came out in 2019 and both won Oscars for, as I recall, supporting actor/actress.
Nothing has interested me since.
“Have you been high today?”

Well, if you come out with one non-woke movie a year, you are gonna take a financial hit.
Breaks my heart. </s>
