Lufthansa: No more „ladies and gentlemen“ on board
MSN ^ | 12.26.2022

Posted on 12/28/2022 12:00:58 AM PST by libh8er

In the future, Lufthansa will eliminate the greeting „Dear Ladies and Gentlemen“ and the English equivalent „Ladies and Gentlemen. The new greeting is intended to be more gender-appropriate.

Who now almost fell off the chair and loudly „Gender Delusion“ or „How many more asterisks do you need?“, he/she can calm down again: The crew needs neither asterisks nor fancy vocabulary. According to a Lufthansa spokesperson, passengers will be greeted in the future with something like „Dear guests,“ „Good morning/lunch/evening“ or a simple „Welcome aboard. The cabin manager will decide which form of address is appropriate at the moment.

Already in June, on the occasion of the „Pride Month„, the decision was made to introduce on board and in customer contact a gender-neutral language to be introduced. However, it was not yet clear at the time what the usual phrases would be replaced with. It is also unclear when we can expect the changes in customer contact. The person responsible for implementation is Timotheus Piechatzek, Lufthansa’s Equal Opportunity Officer, who is based in the interview with Business Insider has commented on the process.

The changes affect the entire Lufthansa Group and thus also the partner airlines

Sad. Of course, the Germans are well known for their perversions.

“Wokeness” is a hostile action directed at people with traditional values.

Only a little time before Germans remove “die” and “der” and only use “das”.

Why does the majority knuckle under the demands of tiny minorities?

Nassim Nicholas Taleb has the answer... and it makes a lot of sense.

“The Most Intolerant Wins: The Dictatorship of the Small Minority”

Perhaps Germany will develop special pronouns and phraseology for ‘those who are frozen’ and ‘those who will soon freeze.’ Whether it is this present winter, or the next few winters, they all will have to get used to the cold. Besides destroying inexpensive electric power generation, Germany just announced they will use the smart electric grid to remotely cut off access to electricity if you are using too much. Using the good ‘ol - To Each According To Their Need philosophy, Germany will cut electricity use to whoever they want. If you use too much electricity to remain unfrozen, or you try to charge your mandated EV too long, your power will be cut off from the Central Authority. When the Smart Grid was first invented, people noticed the ability to control more than just power usage history. People who tried to warn us about this were called conspiracy nuts. Before the Smart Grid, we all grew up with the PG&E man walking the neighborhood, looking on the side of the house, checking and writing down the information on the meters. They stated the main reason for the Smart Grid was to read the meter remotely. The ‘conspiracy’ is now here.

So, back to pronouns. Those completely frozen could be called IceCube. Those on their way to frozen could be called Slush. While IceCube’s gender is frozen in place, Slush’s gender could be classified as ‘fluid.’

The author of this article didn't do his/her/its/zhers homework!

Won't work in German!

"Dear guests" = "Verehrte Fahrgäste"

However, the word "Gast" has the masculine grammatical gender. Can't have that, now, can we?

So it will have to be: "Verehrte Fahrgästinnen [a neologism, i.e., made-up word!] und -gäste."

1. Die bereits Gefrorenen*innen.

2. Die bald zu Frierenden*innen.

Yeah, I added the ubiquitous new "*innen" as a joke! (That is: For now it's a joke.)

Hey, not so fast. If a man identifies as a “lady” or a woman identifies as a “gentleman”, won’t this offend them?

Years ago, back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, I went to Germany for the first time. I was shocked that most of female Lufthansa employees spoke English with an accent close to an English(UK) school teacher - inflections included. Apparently the airline hired retired teachers from the UK to polish the Germans English skills.

Apparently the airline hired retired teachers from the UK to polish the Germans' English skills.

To be frank: A lot of native speakers could also use some "polishing."

Seriously: The phenomenon you describe was/is not limited to female Lufthansa employees.

However, it is not due to hiring U.K. teachers. Most Germans today still have a discernible British accent. But it's not because their actual classroom teachers were Britons. Rather, it's simply because British "received pronunciation" and British orthography were declared, by order of the Education Ministries, to be the norm.

I have lived for the past 40 years in what used to be the American Occupation Zone (actually, it straddles the French and American zones), and the British accent nonetheless prevailed in the classrooms.

(Also, the British received accent is slightly closer than the U.S. accent to the German accent. The "a" and "r" in "father," for example, are similar in both German and British - the American versions are almost unpronounceable for Germans.)

Only today am I hearing more and more American accent.

Regards,

They’re probably in a rush to use mentally ill pilots, which will kill people. Then the company will be shocked by this.
