I seem to remember an onstar lawsuit saying if that while people could listen to any conversation inside an equipped car, but that if someone was listening, the emergency service button was disabled and this could put the occupants lives at risk in the event of a crash

This makes NO sense!

If someone was LISTENING could they HEAR a crash.

Could they not HEAR someone screaming at the button, "Is anyone listening to me??"

If the cops were listening and the driver pushed the onstar button it would not connect to an onstar operator.
