Putin tells Ukraine he is ready for peace talks - but only if Kyiv accepts 'new territorial realities'

Putin told Turkey's President Erdogan he was open to peace dialogue with Kyiv However, Kremlin said this was only possible if Ukraine accepts that territories occupied by Moscow's armies since the invasion began on Feb. 24 as Russian Erdogan called for peace talks in the phone call with Putin, his office said

Vladimir Putin told Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan he was open to dialogue with Ukraine, but only if Kyiv accepts 'new territorial realities'.

Russian troops occupy large swathes of eastern and southern Ukraine. The Kremlin claims it has annexed the Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions despite not controlling them in their entirety.

The Kremlin said on Thursday that Putin told Erdogan peace talks are possible, but only if Ukraine accepts that territories occupied by Moscow as Russian.

'Putin again confirmed Russia's openness to serious dialogue on the condition of Kyiv authorities fulfilling the well-known and repeatedly voiced requirements of taking into account the new territorial realities,' the Kremlin said in a statement.

Erdogan had called for peace talks in the phone call with Putin, his office said earlier.

'The Russian side emphasised the destructive role The West, pumping the Kyiv regime with weapons and military equipment, providing it with operational information and targets,' the statement from the Kremlin added.

This is not the first time Putin has expressed that he is ready for peace talks under the conditions set out by Moscow.

Sounds reasonable to me. As Jesus said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.".

Putin wants to rearm and reorganize his army. So his B plan is presented here. Which is to invade and annex Ukraine on the installment plan. He invaded Crimea in 2014. Now he wants a larger chunk of Southern and Eastern Crimea. Donetsk etc where he held his bullshit elections.

"This is my last territorial demand."

LOL

(look, if Russia keeps attacking with missiles, then Russia isn't interested in peace)

illegally invading a sovereign country on a quest of annexation would be the opposite of “peace”, correct?

Making peace with Putin in charge of conquered territories is like making peace with Hitler still in charge of Paris. Putin should get nothing from his land grab and megalomania. Those Ukrainians with hometowns in the Donbas know that there is no “peace” in the Mohammedan occupied areas.

those two regions have had special status forever. ukraine needs the areas like they need alaska. this started as a civil war over those two areas. the elections were not bs.

This is what everyone expected Putin to do when he first invaded last year, which was to capture and occupy the areas of Donbass that Russia had already been arming in a civil war against Kiev prior to the invasion.

But Putin thought he could do a Sherman "march to the sea" and capture Kiev and oust Zelensky and install a Russian puppet government.

Isn’t this the same situation that brought about the UN, that Russia sits on the UN Security Council?

You know, the NAZI’s and the Leibensraum thingie...instigating war for territorial gain?

If everyone goes for this, great! But kick Russia off the Security Council.

“Anyway, Ukraine does not, has not, will not accept pooty’s current offer.”

Meanwhile our tax dollars keep going to Ukraine.

What does the USA (us common Americans, not the rich fat pigdog bastards in DC getting a 10% cut on the AID provided) get from Ukraine for funding their war?

How does one go about "legally" invading a sovereign country?
