The glaring advantage of gas over electric cooking is the ability to easily sear food. This is how I deal with that problem:

And a gas stove will keep you from freezing to death when a sleet-storm downs miles of transmission lines. Even if the stove has electronic burner ignition you can light it with an old-fashioned match.
