Sounds like a logistical nightmare, unless the goal is RTF.
The Challengers being an odd model is certainly creating some logistical challenges (see what I did there), but part of this decision is diplomacy. It is to shame other countries into sending heavy MBT-s too and for most of Europe these will be Leopard 2-s.

Different tanks means different spare parts, possibly different ammo. Plus training tank crews, mechanics, etc. Logistic nightmare.
As a former tanker and small unit tactical trainer a billion years ago I could probably do ok in an M1 or Bradley after 1-2 days of training. Longer in a T-72 which is what the Ukranians are used too.
