1st of all, if it were not for incorrect winter storage, the demand for Harleys would be half of what it is today. Most run like shit because nobody dares shoot carb cleaner down the throat of the conventional ones. They ride like shit because I see old tires and bad shocks just when behind them.
It is a toy that may get 12k / year that should have a lifetime of 100k miles with the simple belt/chain changes. Typical owner breaks a head open or hip on on a ride before anything but tires and carb have problems.
The electric bicycles and motocross can get me to places no harley dare go. Rivian Truck and 2 electric bikes would run the same amount a 2 electric Harleys.

The farts and exposed armpits from HD riders are worse on the environment than the gasoline engine exhaust. Besides, the unmistakable sound of a HD engine is 90 percent of the reason for their popularity. I just can’t see any self respecting biker pulling up to a red light and sitting there in silence trying to look tough while people in cars snickered at the sight. Heck, may as well go for an electric three wheeled bike with a decal saying something like “My other bike is a Harley but I’m too embarrassed to ride it.”
