I’ve thought about that. But by golly, sometimes you’ve got to just strap on your helmet, take incoming fire, and storm the enemy fort. JP II had that sort of grit. No doubt about it. Benedict probably did as well. Yet evidently both of them declined to take the risk.
That surprises and disappoints me, particularly in the case of JP II.
