Big Tech layoffs are hitting the short-lived, so-called “diversity, equity, and inclusion” industry hard in 2023, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.

Twitter’s DEI team is down from 30 to just two people, one former employee told Bloomberg. Another DEI employee at a rideshare company was let go and has been unable to find new employment, claiming the industry is stalled as technology companies deal with ongoing financial issues and giant cuts to their workforces.

Listings for DEI jobs dropped some 19% in 2022, a larger hit than than other legal and human resource jobs, Bloomberg noted. While other jobs in Big Tech firms, like software engineering and data science, saw larger declines, DEI is a close third.

When times are tough and companies need to trim the fat, the useless departments and positions are the first to go.

They should call it DIE instead of DEI.

Every year I have to go through a budgeting process to validate the previous year’s ROI and to forecast the next years. If it all seem correct I get to keep my job.

Please document the ROI the DEI initiatives are generating.

Yeah, I thought so.

The Marxists have been incredibly effective at taking over bureaucratic institutions, but they have a massive blind spot when it comes to businesses. They don't understand the powerful and pervasive influence of the profit motive.

They have packed the HR departments and legal--even filled the C-suites with sympathetic executives--but it looks like that didn't prepare them for the fact that Wokeness can kill the goose that is laying their golden Woke eggs.

It will be interesting to see if Disney has layoffs now that Iger has returned. BTW Iger is a true believer in Wokedom. He will not change easily. In fact, I think the board will have to find someone to replace him if they want change.

I wonder what all these people did useful. I even wondered about my own jobs way back when and I moved on to avoid RIF. I LOVE useless retirement.

All DEI is institutionalized racism against white people.

“In October 2020, he became a director of the massively-funded dairy-replacement startup Perfect Day.”

“Iger has described himself as a political centrist, while he has publicly identified with the Democratic Party. Iger co-chaired a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign on August 22, 2016. He was named to President-elect Trump’s Strategic and Policy Forum on December 2, 2016. He resigned from the Forum on June 1, 2017 out of protest after President Trump withdrew the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement.

“In 2016, Iger switched his party registration from Democratic to independent (no party affiliation).”

Other than that, he seems pretty sound to me:

In the global media and entertainment business, there is a need for diversity so as to not miss out on business opportunities.

Not just Disney but also ALL the professional sports organizations starting with the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL. They truly have destroyed their brand with all the homosexual trans agenda and BLM kneeling. I exclude the pro soccer leagues because by definition they are all fags anyway.

DEI jobs are not real jobs. They are basically the type of no-show jobs that politicians give relatives to enrich the family (i.e. Hunter Biden, Chelsea Clinton, Alexander Pelosi, Karen Waters, etc.).

It should be understood by leftists that a lot of land is not suitable for growing crops because the soil is poor or the rainfall is irregular or insufficient.

Grazing animals can produce nutritious food on land where crops are likely to fail (and without the use of pesticides, natural or man-made).

It’s not just that. It’s hiring incompetent people to meet artificial goals using code words that are hard to decipher.

Iger is a hardcore Wokester. He is the guy who picked Bob Chapek (who is a devout Wokester) to replace himself.

Iger said just the other day that he doesn't want Disney too lose all they have accomplished re: the LBGTQ agenda. Iger is the father of the queering of Disney.

Employees should efficiently bring a needed skill into the organization.

If the skill is cultural, only one person with that skill may be needed in even a massive corporation. And companies will prefer persons that have an additional skill as well, so a person may get in with a cultural skill but will be subject to replacement by a broader skilled person.

Microsoft probably needs thousands of programmers, probably only about 10% of which need to have foreign cultural skills.

Homosexuals have infiltrated the executive suites of several large corporations.

Large corporations tend to be located in large metropolitan that homosexuals favor.

Here's a link to interesting article on Iger at Fox which states "Iger is no less woke than Chapek," Chesser told FOX Business. "He is even more woke."

Did Disney's woke agenda cause the CEO shakeup? Expert says expect the wokeness to continue under returning CEO Bob Iger

“In 2022, as Florida passed its Parental Rights in Education Act (known by critics as the “Don’t Say Gay law”), reports rose that Disney funded the legislators who wrote and sponsored the bill; this conflicted with the company’s pro-LGBT+ image. In a company memo, Chapek refused to criticize the legislation and played down the company’s backing of anti-LGBT+ legislators. Chapek’s statements and actions were heavily criticized, including by several members of Disney’s creative talent. Following the criticism, Chapek reversed course claiming the company was “opposed to the bill from the outset” and would be donating to several LGBT+ organizations; while he had plans to meet with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis who supports the bill. One of the organizations, the Human Rights Campaign, refused the funds from Disney until “meaningful action” is taken. The day after, Chapek formally apologized for his prior statements and announced that the company will be ceasing donations to all political parties in Florida while looking to further improve their support for LGBT+ causes.”

Chapek is a division manager type. He also ran Disney when its theme parks were impacted by Covid.

One of few few few money losing and productivity busting but more over moral destroying and self inflicted blunders set about on in lock step by a misguided assumption that you can fix stupid basically.
Success anywhere anytime should be the product of competition without bonus points at least not paint brushed on.

Best example so far exposing what managers and real investors have always known: that these activities subtract from, rather than adding to, the value of a company and its ability to produce profits. They are the most over of overhead.
