According to this video (made by a private chicken farmer), the reason there is a huge shortage of eggs is due to store bought chicken feed. Commenters seem to confirm, suggesting specifically feed from Tractor Supply is to blame for ZERO eggs being laid in farms across America this winter.
Anecdotally it’s Tractor Supply’s Dumor (?) brand chicken feed that’s causing a near-total drop-off in egg-laying, even more than would be expected during winter’s shorter days. Seems their feed is now much lower in protein. Switching to another source of chicken feed causes egg-laying to resume its normal mid-winter pattern. Again, this is just anecdotal . . . but there have been many such anecdotes.
If I were an evil overlord wanting to corner the egg market I would first
corner the chicken feed market and stop putting calcium in small bulk chicken feed.
A fake avian flu outbreak to roast your competitors laying hens never hurts either.

“I just purchased 75 dozen without shells, frozen, for $4.99 for baking. That was a bargain.”
I’ve never used previously frozen eggs. Do they work the same in baking, quality wise?
Yes
Thanks!
