The criminal justice system is an industry. The more crimes happen, the more money they get in their budget.
I don’t see where the article says the robber was fleeing.
“Anderson said this was the sixth armed robbery at the store since August, according to officials.”
Missed this on the first read.
Cut me some slack, it was the last sentence of the article!
“Police said Anderson also told them he only shot at the suspect and did not know he had hit him as the suspect ran.”
The article is vague on that point. That is the worst case for the clerk. Even so, I would vote in favor of the clerk if on the jury.
The store has been robbed on average once a month since August?
Definitely a bad neighborhood.
“ The guy in Texas at the diner who killed the robber left. I guess it’s not like a car wreck where you have to stay in Texas. Supposedly you don’t have to stay in Texas. Just hit’em and leave! lol”
Like a Panda bear! Eats shoots and leaves.
My gosh, right there is the definition of poetic justice. Beautiful!
So no perp ever stops their run at what they deem a good distance for a gun fight and turns to shoot?
But, as I understand it, the law says you must be under reasonable fear for your life to shoot at someone. Someone running away from you with the loot from your store is not currently threatening you. Now, the guy recently was pointing a gun at you when he robbed your store and your attorney may be able to convince a jury that you were still ‘reasonably’ in fear for your life. No argument from me.
In some areas they don’t prosecute robbery under a certain amount. The left doesn’t want you to stop the robbers.
In effect, the left is saying “It’s OK to steal what you want and it’s a crime for the owner to defend himself and his property.”
Thanks for checking out the racial facts on this case.... Which is 80% of what people care about these days. IOW, was the crime or murder done within the particular race? Or was a person of another race involved as perpetrator or victim?
My workplace has told us never to intervene in theft or a robbery. We’re also not allowed to carry as employees of Albertson’s.
As a patron, though... I can do what state law allows.
Why did he leave the scene? How long after leaving did it take to make his statement to police? Missing the important details on this story. Where was the body in relation to the door he had to have locked when leaving? Prosecutors are using everything since he left the scene.
Was the DA Soros funded?
The short, happy life of Scrooge McDuck.
6th robbery at same store in past 6 months.
I would shoot, also.
Shot at fleeing suspect
No officer he took my gun and he ran off and the gun went off yeah that’s the ticket.
