Hickpry (sic) should be Hickory.
We regret the error.
That downtown square is not a place for children of respectable parents.
Best thing in Asheville is the hospital. Top notch.
You answered my question while I was still typing it! :-)
If you voted for the Dem clowns, live with it.
Yeah, go west.
And don’t even try Greenville, SC either.
Go west and to higher altitudes.
Look at West Jefferson. I know several people that moved there
Yet another day of libtards shocked by the situation they find themselves in.
I vacationed in Asheville for a week in 2001.
Beautiful town. Appeared to be a very affluent place and much too expensive for BLM / Antifa types so I’m surprised to hear those wealthy southern folk are not pulling out their guns and shooting the criminals.
They don’t steal because society is cruel to them.
Society is cruel to them because they steal.
Liberals can’t figure this out, because for them, history began when they woke up this morning.
“Is the violence confined to the city of Asheville, or has it spread into the surrounding areas?”
...
Like many Appalachian mountain towns, there’s been a lot of move-ins and new construction on the outskirts. Because there’s so little neighborhood connection between the residents it makes property crime a raging business.
Many people don’t know, but if your boat is stolen, it’s likely gone for good. DNR doesn’t check private lakes, and even on public waters it’s rare. I have a friend who lost one last year, likely never to be seen again unless some future owner tries to register it.
Eventually the stupid does come back and bite you in the back side. It just may take awhile. The problem is that the stupid people that caused it have a hard time seeing the correlation.
Take San Francisco for example. This is the extreme example on a major city now in crisis. Twenty five years ago when planning a trip to HI we were planning where to stop on the west coast we chose SF. Today, I would NEVER go there. There are millions of people like me.
So, how much revenue is a city like that losing because of its political decisions?
The same goes for Ashville, NC. Twenty years ago, I would have considered retiring there. My older brother worked there for five years. When we visited, we thought strongly about that as an eventual place to live. Now, it is off the list.
This is the main reason why FLORIDA saw the largest movement of people into it from other states in 2022. Most people are conservative. Much higher than 60%. Especially if you have invested well and saved for retirement. Conservative people do NOT want to live in these liberal hell hole states. They will vote with their feet. Long term this has a major effect on property values and the local economy.
I was there for 4 days last June. It was nice where I was. Sadly it’s become the norm for many places. The downtown/business/tourist areas are looked after. To keep the money flowing. The rest of it becomes a $hithole. Same with Savannah GA. I was there last year for a wedding. The downtown/waterfront/tourist area & islands were nice. The north side of town is a hellhole.
Any business that leaves cash in a register overnight deserves to have it stolen. Idiots.
LOL. That is the story of a lot of small Southern and Midwestern towns. My mother lives in a small town in Tennessee. A bunch of Californians have moved in since COVID and prices are shooting up for everything. The old golf course where everyone played golf is having a professional team upgrade it to national standards and the cost to play is shooting up.
It’s a socialist thing. Anything you own belongs to anyone who can steal it from you. Socialism has always been that way. That’s why everyone from south of the border shows up at the Rio Grande with nothing but the shirts on their backs. Socialists took everything else from them.
Well....
I was once considering Asheville as a possible place to which to relocate from the Northeast (NY/NJ). No more.
Check out Townsend, TN...Very small...Right on the border of the Smokey Mtns, Nat’l Park.....30-40 minutes from City of Knoxville...
See post #38...
