You have a strange definition of “hellhole.” There are parts of Savannah that are “run-down” and poor, but even the worst parts are NOTHING like the hoods of Detroit, St. Louis, or Bronx. You see some boarded up buildings, but not the burnt-out trash heaped wastelands like those.
I live near Hickory. How is it stupid? Catawba county is still Republican majority.
Remark based on conversation with my daughter’s friend who lives in Hickory. She wasn’t happy with the trends and costs, ie creeping Asheville-ism.
In other words, what will Hickory be in 3-5 years.
Your mileage may vary.
You can try East Tennessee in and around the Smokies. Still good conservative communities there.
Sorry to hear that. It’s near Orlando, right? Disney do it in?
My wife’s from the Newton-Conover area and still has plenty of family there. She flies there to visit every year or so; if possible we’ll drive there from southern AZ this spring sometime. Nice country.
In walking distance of Casselberry, where I once lived, which is near Orlando. Trayvon Martin is a symptom of what did it in. But the trendy downtown shops and cobblestoned square degenerated into that over time. It used to be beautiful.
I see. I live across Lake Hickory in Alexander county. I used to drive into town to work and shop but I guess it isn’t the same as living in it. I haven’t noticed any major political changes. The city and county government is still firmly Republican so I thought we were still good.
Newton and Conover are all part of Hickory area. It is nice. Hickory has residential areas up near Lake Hickory that resemble Beverly Hills. It’s a very nice town with virtually no “hoods.” The lake and trees really make it. Union Square in Hickory was recently revamped and oozes with charm. Come on down!
Sounds like instead of Biltmore the name should be Bilkmore.
A medium size city full of “Love is Love, No person is illegal, I believe in Science” progressives.”
A medium size city run by Soros funded anarchists.
Antifa SE headquarters.
“Appeared to be a very affluent place and much too expensive for BLM / Antifa types”
SE headquarters for Antifa. Funded by a trust fund from some wealthy Democrat plus money from Soros.
Pansyfest?
Wow.
Soros’ money.
Exactly

We need to co-opt the leftist model(s).... and become far more ruthless than they.
Duncan further noted that when he was serving as county sheriff, “left-wing activists” from outside the community would sweep in to disrupt community meetings. “They would really try to get into it with the police, and a lot of times, they would try to shout down things,” he said. “And the first people who quit coming to those meetings were the people within the community. They really didn’t get to speak, and they really didn’t get anything done.”
