Los Angeles County supervisors are pushing a .50 cal. rifle ban after a 9mm pistol was used in the January 21, 2023, Monterey Park, California, mass shooting.
Breitbart News noted the Monterey shooter killed 11 people with a 9mm pistol. Two days later, another attacker used a pistol to kill seven in Half Moon Bay.
On February 6, 2023, KTLA reported LA County supervisors are weighing a ban on .50 caliber rifles and .50 caliber ammo in response to the 9mm killings.
They are also weighing a county wide gun registry, a liability insurance requirement for gun owners, and a requirement that gun stores post warnings about “the dangers of firearms.”

People that know nothing about Firearms should not be allowed to make laws about Firearms
They want to ban ammo that can “reach out and touch someone”, to borrow an old slogan, lest they get reached out to. No other reason to ban .50 cal.

They don’t know the law. 50 cal is already banned. Maybe it will be doubly banned and we will all be in double secret probation.

They know they don't want anyone but their jackbooted thugs to have them. that's the goal no firearms for anyone but the various government stasi clones. No firearms, no freedom of speech (hate speech otherwise known as anything the government disagrees with), no protection from warrantless searches and seizure (oh wait we have that now with "civil asset forfeiture", no recourse from police misconduct ("qualified immunity" protects police from their misdeeds). about the only abuse that the government has not so far violated the Bill of rights on is quartering soldiers in peoples houses, and if you count the homeless bum invasion of private property, this may be an issue too.

There already is a ban on 50’s..the Austrian jerk Schwarzenegger signed it years ago.

I recall Ronnie Barrett refusing to sell .50s
to or service CalGov rifles because of the ban. Wasn’t the .416 Barrett developed for that market, as a result?
I think the title is a little misleading. The particular 9mm semi-automatic pistol may have been modified to accept a .50 caliber BAC cartridge, 50 round magazine and modified to full auto.
So . . .
