Rioter who menaced officer with Confederate flag gets prison

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Delaware man who threatened a Black police officer with a pole attached to a Confederate battle flag as he stormed the U.S. Capitol was sentenced on Thursday to three years in prison.

Kevin Seefried, 53, tearfully apologized for his participation in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot before U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden sentenced him.

McFadden said it was deeply troubling that Seefried wielded the flagpole as a weapon against the officer.

“Bringing a Confederate flag into one of our nation’s most sacred halls was outrageous,” the judge said.

McFadden allowed Seefried to remain free until he must report to prison at a date to be determined.

Justice Department prosecutors had recommended a prison sentence of five years and 10 months for Seefried, a drywall mechanic from Laurel, Delaware.

Seefried and his adult son, Hunter, stormed the Capitol together after attending the “Stop the Steal” rally, where then-President Donald Trump addressed thousands of supporters in Washington. Kevin Seefried was the 12th rioter to set foot inside the building that day, according to prosecutors.

In October, McFadden sentenced Hunter Seefried to two years of imprisonment.

Three years in prison for menacing a black police officer with a confederate flag.

Meanwhile, Antifa and BLM get nothing for far worse.

Did he actually use it as a weapon or just display it? Because I think details are important when sentencing someone to jail.

Also “one of our nation’s most sacred halls” is blasphemous.

Allowing creeping Democrat vermin there repeatedly has ruined that. Watters, the Black Caucus, the Squad, Pelosi, Jerry Nadler and so many more have nibbled on cheese and garbage there it will never be “sacred.” 🐭🐭🐭🐭🐭🐭🐭🐭

The judge stated he was sentencing him because he was “an embarrassment to the nation”. I had no idea embarrassment was a criminal offense. If it is, Joe Biden and everyone at the FBI should be serving 40 to life.

What is the actual difference between a confederate flag and a confederate battle flag? Just asking? Did the Whitehouse speech control office write the decision?

I have seen a lot of light sentences passed out to totally worthless criminals for serious harm done, including many who just went home with time served or had a technicality problem causing a dropped charge.

This is simply a form of judicial vigilantism.* Judge’s personal opinion and bias ruled. The flag’s “menace” did not take away a life or cause a trauma psychologically as when are women are surrounded, beaten and raped by “teens” who are let go on racial privilege.

*I hate to sully the sacred name of vigilantism here after honoring it.

“Bringing a Confederate flag into one of our nation’s most sacred halls was outrageous,”

Americans don't belong to your state-worshipping religion.

Use of the word “menace”, and the judge calling it “outrageous “ is a dead giveaway that no laws were broken.

If an actual crime was committed, they would have named it.

I don’t have any sympathy for the morons or agents provocateurs who bring confederate flags to anything but a historical reenactment. If they really did support Trump, they would know it damages the cause... it is like putting a turd in the punch bowl and expecting everyone to enjoy the party.

He should have told the judge that he brought it to honor the Democratic Party and their late great Grand Dragon of Capitol Hill.

Sacred? So the halls of Congress are now Holy Ground? That’s a tough sell considering how many POS are walking about in its halls every day.
