L.A. City Council Votes Unanimously to Replace Natural Gas with Unproven Hydrogen Power
Breitbart ^ | 02-09-2023 | JOEL B. POLLAK

The Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously on Wednesday to convert a natural gas power plant to a new hydrogen system that critics say may not provide enough power and could cause more environmental damage.

The proposal is part of a “Green New Deal” adopted by former mayor Eric Garcetti to shutter three natural gas plants in favor of “renewable” energy — over objections that solar and wind power would not be sufficient, and that the move would cost thousands of union jobs.

Garcetti stuck with his plan even after the state suffered electricity shortages in 2020 and after Democrats lost a local special election in which the plan was a key issue.

This is what happens when you elected leftist lawyers and ideologues who know nothing about the real world to positions of authority.

The only ones dumber than these cretins are the people who vote for them.

Not good enough, it should be a FELONY for ANY Public Employee to use, own or possess Natural Gas or any product that uses Natural Gas. And they should begin by disconnecting All Natural Gas hookups to All Public Buildings

And it takes more energy to produce than it yields when you burn it. This has to be a back door payoff to someone; after millions exchange hands in “R&D” projects, it will never come to pass.

i'm very confused. They're going to take natural gas (methane) turn that into a steam with water to form carbon dioxide and hydrogen.
Then they will take that hydrogen keep it a refrigerator to stay cold so it doesn't explode and burn it for electricity?

Sounds like some power company is going to get rich.

So they need to expend energy to break up the hydrocarbon chains in natural gas to yield a smaller quantity of pure hydrogen, which when used will blow up like the Hindenburg?

How about the flatulence produced by the members of the Los Angeles City Council? There’s enough of that to power the city and surrounding area.

Or you can use solar/wind/hydro electricity to split water molecules.

What could be greener than that???? / s
