Toronto Mayor John Tory announced his resignation after admitting to a relationship with a former member of his office that lasted several months.
Tory said he had an affair with the female employee during the COVID-19 pandemic. It mutually ended earlier this year.
The Toronto Star was the first media outlet to report on Tory’s relationship with the woman.
The employee was not identified, but the Toronto Star notes she’s a 31-year-old former advisor in the mayor’s office.
Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie is expected to take over as acting mayor until a by-election is held.
There are no established rules or laws against romantic workplace relationships in Canada between consenting adults.
Tory has been married to Barbara Hackett, a home builder and renovator, since 1978.

I’ve been married 45+ years and made a commitment to my husband. I’ve never been tempted to, nor had the time, to cultivate a relationship with someone else. Being my husband’s partner, working, and raising children was multiple full-time jobs. Where would I find the time?

Yeah. The communist media outed this affair and to be sure this kill is a trophy on their wall. The likelihood is whoever replaces him will be a leftist freak. As bad as conservatives in name only are their one good trait is they keep out a far worse alternative from power.
