A man driving a U-Haul "went on a rampage" in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, Monday morning, according to a New York City councilman.
The New York City Police Department confirmed that a male suspect was taken into custody at Hamilton Ave and Columbia St. The New York City Fire Department said eight people were injured.
Councilman Justin Brannan tweeted. "Several people were hit and badly injured. We have no idea of motives at this time, but this wasn't an accident." NYPD's bomb squad is at the scene to check the truck for possible explosives.
"I have been briefed on the developing situation in Brooklyn," New York Gov. Kathy Hochul tweeted. She said her team is coordinating with New York State police and the NYPD "and are ready to provide any assistance needed as the investigation continues."

The Daily Mail is describing the driver as “Asian”, meaning, of course, Middle Eastern or Muslim.

Someone (who works for U-Haul) told me the truck was rented out of West Palm Beach, FL. The driver has a NV license.
But Sewell said Monday's rampage did not have a known terrorism element.

Guys alrady ben arrested in the past for similar event....they wanted a mental evaluation done at that time.
Said h is homless but from the looks of th inside of the U0Haul h’s likely doing what others do...they rent u-hauls for overnight just to have a warm, safe, place to sleep.
No name or photo of the captured suspect which suggests strongly that he is either black, or more likely, Moslem.
The criminal is NOT a U-Haul employee. He was the driver of a U-Haul rental truck.
