I remember a Dragnet episode where, in the intro, they noted that the LA police department was hiring more women officers to do the paperwork and parking meter monitoring jobs so it would free up more men to do the more dangerous patrolling jobs. It always seemed to me if you demand quotas, you should demand quotas in those killed in the line of duty as well.

Also on Adam 12 the Norm Crosby (Bing Crosby’s son) character Officer Ed Wells openly griped about the brass forcing them to take female police officers in violent takedown situations. Of course one ended up saving his bacon and rounding up the bad guys.
