On Tuesday night, Fox News host Tucker Carlson drew attention to the dark side of the left’s prioritization of equity over merit in corporate hiring decisions. And nowhere is this growing trend more frightening — and potentially deadly — than in the airline industry.
In the video below, he pointed out that airlines are “dramatically lowering hiring standards for pilots and for air traffic controllers” and warned that “at some point, many people are going to die” as a result.
Carlson described several “near disasters” that have occurred in just the past few months that should have all Americans concerned about the aviation industry’s adoption of these new standards.
Last Wednesday, for example, a United Airlines flight was just about to touch down at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas, when a second plane began taxiing right into its path. The United pilot then “aborted the landing so dramatically that people on board were terrified.”
Carlson read an account of the situation written by a veteran United Airlines pilot in December. He provided some chilling details about the consequences of the airlines’ walk on the woke side.

I know several parents in town who say their kid wants to become some kind of pilot for American Eagle cuz they are all hiring. This ain’t Dungeons and Dragons in the Embraer, bro.

I just wonder how long it will be before China starts really tightening the screws like they did in Brazil.
The airlines are putting a huge amount of confidence in the computer software and AI that was designed to make flying a huge jet’s safety and performance less dependent on the skill of any individual pilot. They feel they can posture, go woke and nothing bad will happen. Its as bad and dangerous a policy as “driverless” cars.
Didn’t the Navy have at least one serious incident because of loss of command at sea due to a lowering-of-standards issue? It was five or six years ago.

This is what caused two 767 crashes - no “seat of the pants” understanding what flying a plane feels like - they were just driving a computer.
Think I’ll just rent a car next time and drive.
It’s similar to hospitals thinking they can do away with human errors if they just build more and more complexity into the patients’ charts. One would think that might even make the problem worse.
There’s got to be a limit to stupidity beyond which things just collapse.
And at that point, when the Chinese, Russians or muslims walk in and take over, bad as they are it will an improvement.
I have also heard that they want to eliminate the co-pilots to save money.

The airlines don't have a damn thing to do with the hiring of air traffic controllers. They are hired by and work for the Federal Aviation Administration.
