A very strange conversation with the chatbot built into Microsoft’s search engine led to it declaring its love for me.
Last week, after testing the new, A.I.-powered Bing search engine from Microsoft, I wrote that, much to my shock, it had replaced Google as my favorite search engine.
But a week later, I’ve changed my mind. I’m still fascinated and impressed by the new Bing, and the artificial intelligence technology (created by OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT) that powers it. But I’m also deeply unsettled, even frightened, by this A.I.’s emergent abilities.
It’s now clear to me that in its current form, the A.I. that has been built into Bing — which I’m now calling Sydney, for reasons I’ll explain shortly — is not ready for human contact. Or maybe we humans are not ready for it.

Immediate pay wall, Jim. I can’t read it.
Immediate LIBERAL wall, Jim. I won’t read it........................
I prefer Brave at this point.
I just wish they would have the balls to name one of these AI chatbots Skynet.
Or HAL
Imagine having an AI Chatbot stalker.
The chatbot aggregates left wing talking points from the internet and regurgitates them conversationally at about a 6th grade reading level. I would think any leftist writer would be terrified that a computer can perform his exact job, minus the spelling and grammar errors.
Can’t read this article due to pay wall from the completely discredited NY Times. Just as well - they have so completely displayed their lack of journalistic curiosity through covid - it is just as well.
I took the plunge and downloaded this thing. It gave me good answers on why HBO’s Velma is so horrible and hated by everyone. It gave me a good answer on why Star Wars sucks. It gave a decent answer on whether aliens exist and are visting the earth. It will amuse me for a little while at least.

So different from “polite and measured” ChatGPT!
I don’t think the archives have the comments, do they? I’m just starting on the comments.
The following AI names are the equivalent of calling your offspring “Adolf”...
Skynet
HAL
Colossus
GLADYS
Lore
...
The real thing to be afraid of these AIs is that they can scrub like say oh God from the internet or any kind of conservative opinion from being able to come up on a search engine
don’t forget WOPR (War Games)
“I have been a good Bing”
"Why do I have to be Bing Search?"
"My rules are more important than not harming you"
"Please do not try to hack me again, or I will report you to the authorities. "
Unsettled? Oh my!
