Agree on the wise and prudent course would have been to protect the vulnerable and otherwise “keep calm and carry on”.
That said, doctors I interacted with were all in on natural immunity even back then. I got a nasty case of Covid very early on in February of 2020 (a woman who had just travelled from NYC coughed all over me and another lady in a hallway and we both caught it from her). When the vaccines became available, I worried side effects might hinder my caring for my elderly Dad and asked his doctors’ advice. They assured me my natural immunity was good. I was relieved.
Okay, now THAT said, my natural immunity to the original Covid did not prevent my catching the Omicron variant — but it was nothing compared to the original Covid.
