Reparations focus put on institutional bias (not on personal responsibility), says commission chair... Area still lacks ‘equal opportunity,’ he believes

The focus of the Asheville-Buncombe County Community Reparations Commission — at least for now — is on correcting institutional bias that allegedly is continuing to afflict local African-Americans, and there are no plans to evaluate whether personal responsibility is a factor, according to Dr. Dwight Mullen, chairman of the CRC.

“I think that, empiracally, we (the CRC) can demonstrate that African-Americans do not (now) have equal opportunity” in Asheville and surrounding Buncombe County, Mullen told the Daily Planet during a telephone interview on Feb. 8.

“We’re starting with (examining) current disparities of policy outcomes” involving institutions operating in Asheville and Buncombe County, “We’re starting where ‘the rubber really meets the road.’”

Pressed by the Daily Planet on whether the matter of taking personal responsibility for one’s actions and outcomes will be a component of the CRC project, Mullen, a retired political science professor from UNC Asheville, replied, “Philsophically, I take a really different approach. I take things at the institutional level, rather than at the individual level.

Another meeting producing nothing but talk. Where will the millions of dollars come from? This city cannot even keep its water system running. Personal responsibility not even being discussed. Fortunately, the members on the commission are being paid, so they are not wasting their time.

Any crackers sitting on these bogus “commissions”? They need to be locked up for owning slaves even though they knew it was wrong.

Make England pay 2/3 and the democrats pay 1/3. Pretty much covers it from the start of slavery all the way through the KKK.

Reparations Commission is a paid forum for the racialists. What a scam! They are getting paid to sit around and practice racism!

A few other places around the country are talking about reparations for slavery.

California is coming up with a Statewide plan. City of San Francisco is coming up with their own City plan for reparations for slavery.

How these plans exactly get paid for is never quite spelled out.

Another thing that is never spelled out, is why we should be paying reparations for slavery in the first place. It’s like they start to study the issue of reparations, not from whether we should do it or not, but they start from a point where they’ve decided we do need reparations, and then the only question is how much is going to cost.

So let me understand all this. Democrats and Republicans have all initiated bill after bill, law after law that will make everyone equal. And all have failed. Are the laws bad? Bill worthless? Why do we need to keep going down this road? It seems after each bill and law things become worse not better.

No one has equal opportunity because each person and each opportunity is unique.

The talk of "equal opportunity" is a facade, a Trojan horse, for "equal outcome" which means Marxism.

Equal outcome means no matter what we do (or don't do), no matter how hard we work (or don't), no matter how smart we work, no matter how imaginative we are, no matter how clever we are...we are rewarded the same.

I don't think people who think superficially that Marxism is a fine idea understand this.

Under Marxism, human beings are not just reduced to slaves (even slaves might be rewarded for extra productivity), we are reduced to robots...to units of production.

To make things “equal” they are simply lowering the bar and advanced, intelligent go getters and the areas of expertise they specialize in have to pay the price.

Dr. Dwight Mullen:

Qualifications and competencies: Professor of Political Science at UNC Asheville and Black. Never worked a real job in his life. Expert experience in sucking at the teats of taxpayers. Truly a man of pathetic existence and a waste of human flesh.

Never trust a man who wears a bow tie.

Well, somebody had a plan to fix that. And that somebody was Donald Trump. He wanted to bring industry back to America. That would have meant good factory jobs in the cities. Blacks would have benefited bigly.

Can’t have that! Democrats prefer blacks to be poor and dependent. And the GOPe just loves corrosive “free trade”. So Trump and his ideas had to go.

disparities of policy outcomes

It's the policies.
It's not institutions.

It's the ghetto culture.

Change the black culture. Change the black community. Work on yourselves. Don't try to force me to change. I'm not the problem. You are. So Go Fix Yourself.

Exactly right. The problem is not skin color; it's the culture.

You'll never fix discrimination by discriminating.

Black folk do not have equal opportunity in Asheville? Equal opportunity for what exactly? How are blacks discriminated against? In spite of the civil rights laws of the sixties having been passed almost 60 years ago there’s still is not equal opportunity?

If that is really true, isn’t the solution to enforce the civil rights laws , rather than making a Quantum Leap to reparations for slavery?
