The gun walked 30 ft away after shooting him in the stomach. The discharge force may have been enough to propel it that far. *IF* the guy killed himself, he couldn't hold the gun very well when he pushed the trigger. Nothing for the gun to push against, it will be propelled away from him like a rocket.
