Constitutional Carry sails through South Carolina House

While most of the recent discussion about Constitutional or permitless carry has centered around Florida (where a permitless carry bill is now queued up and ready for action on the floor of the House once the legislative session officially kicks off next month), the Sunshine State isn’t the only place where lawmakers are considering removing the requirement that legal gun owners obtain a state-issued permission slip before exercising their right to bear arms. A permitless carry bill is awaiting action on the floor of the Nebraska Senate as well, and in South Carolina the House of Representative overwhelmingly voted in favor of a Constitutional Carry measure on Thursday morning, sending the bill on to the state Senate.

It sure would be nice if Florida would quit dragging their butts on this.

If RDS wants to be President ... EVER ... he will make this happen.

The Left will bitch and moan, but they’ll hate him anyway no matter what he does.

If he succeeds, for the Right it will be a big feather in his cap. If he fails, for the Right it will be mud on his face.

My only caution for people who live in states that adopt Constitutional Carry is to be very cautious around your police. Too many of them have the idea that every person openly carrying a firearm is a threat and a legitimate target for immediate execution.

In short, give it a month or so before you open carry.

“It sure would be nice if Florida would quit dragging their butts on this.”

I worry that they are dragging their feet so it can be used as an election issue in two years. Legislation could have been passed and signed into law anytime in the past four years using templates of other states that have successfully passed such laws. They could even speak to their counter-parts in other states regarding clarification, additions, or deletions they would have made in hindsight. Citing crime reductions, or lack of crime increases, in other states after passing such laws could be used to bolster public support.
