Teacher's thread claiming sex between adults and minors is not 'intrinsically harmful' HORRIFIES Twitter

We have read some straight-up evil and awful threads on Twitter (yay, it’s part of what we do) but this one from a teacher? Ummm … yikes.

Sometimes in education, a student hits you with what can only be described as a "curveball". In my case, as a provider of consent-awareness and sex-positivity-oriented courses, I often find myself getting pulled towards some rather tricky…

One common conflict, is where my responsibility to teach students *responsible self-conduct within the law*, clashes with the importance of teaching *assertiveness and agency* within their sexual relations. This tension often flares up…

…when we are discussing Age of Consent laws, and the ever-changing "close-in-age" exemptions of some other jurisdictions.

This, is of course, a reasonable question for a young person to ask, and shows a precocious and admirable degree of critical thinking.

The answer to this question, is (deep breath…) that sex between a minor and an adult isn't *intrinsically* abusive, nor innately harmful!

But socially "inappropriate" in christian america… sure, I won't contest that one. Irresponsible? Well, maybe, particularly if highly religious parents or radfem-adjacent moms are alerted, which can lead to serious legal repercussions that I have witnessed first-hand.

One does not have to be a Christian to know adults should not have sex with minors.

Since harm in casual relations with peers and adults comes from guilt and social conditioning…

…or in thankfully rare cases, force, which is always wrong, it's important to drill these ideas into kids from an early age. As sex-positive educators, we have a responsibility *not* to teach the next generation to see themselves as helpless victims, especially young girls…

Understanding that adults have no business having sex with them does not make any minor a victim.

…who are known to be the demographic most at risk of purity culture, social shaming and gaslighting. Consent is such an important subject to teach when it comes to preventative public health, as when kids are equipped with the *right kind* of information…

The crap these people make up to excuse this behavior and line of thinking … wow.

It is, of course, a great relief for my students to learn they are not innately "dirty", corrupted, or bound to suffer some great psychological torture following consensual sex play…

Took me a while to check out “her”’Twitter page. “She” is pro-drag queen story hour, and pro-transgender mutilation medicine for minors, plus pro-porn for children. This “woman” must be lying on “her” Twitter & linked in pages, cuz “she” would be fired so fast.

Republicans took control of the House in January, so we need to at least try to make the month of May "LGBTQ Disease Awareness Month." Any school, from K thru grad school, must teach the following bullet pointed curriculum in every classroom for 1 hr every Friday for the last four weeks before summer, or lose all federal funding.

Any government unit trying to make up this loss of funding also gets its federal funding cut off. Any high school or college student who fails to sign in at the beginning of each class & sign out at the end is ineligible for graduation. Any teacher who refuses to teach this curriculum, or lets students cut class will lose teaching credentials.

The LGBTQ community is at high risk for the following:

• HIV & Hepatitis C. Both are incurable & always fatal. Lifetime medical costs for either of these are $400,000. After 40 years of "safe sex" education, about 90% of all new HIV cases still come from the LGBTQ community.

• Syphilis, gonorrhea & other "standard" STDs. In 2014, the CDC reported that 84% of new syphilis cases were gay/bi men (who make up 1% of the population).

• So many LGBTQs have both HIV AND hepatitis C -- or HIV, hepatitis C AND syphilis -- that the medical professionals have coined a new word to describe this phenomenon: "syndemic." A synthesis of epidemics.

• Rectal Foreign Bodies (RFBs). Trauma center personnel are acutely aware that about 90% of these patients are gay/bi men. All sorts of objects, from potatoes to tennis balls, get shoved up in there for a thrill. Then they can't get it out. The worst case I've heard of was a wine bottle that broke off. Every time they tried to pull it out, it just cut the patient more. They had to do emergency abdominal surgery, then two weeks of recovery & industrial strength antibiotics, to fight the inevitable E. coli infection.

• Giardiasis, shigellosis, amoebiasis & other infections of the intestinal tract. Without treatment, all are fatal if they spread to the liver. Identifiable symptoms do not appear until the disease is well advanced. One study showed that 41% of gay/bi men have amoebiasis. In the US straight population, it's 0.01% -- and most of those got it by doing something like "a year of missionary work in an East African village, where the village well was contaminated by raw sewage & animal manure." Okay, after having said all that, you don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out how a homosexual who never left San Francisco might catch it.

• And now ... Monkeypox & Meningitis C.

• Sharply elevated risks of alcoholism, drug addiction & mental illness.

• Increased risks of domestic violence, sexual assault & being targeted for other types of predatory crimes (robbery, con artists, etc.). Women are more likely to become victims of domestic violence in lesbian relationships than in straight relationships.

The price tags for all of these diseases are subsidized by normal people like you & me. For example, when a patient gets HIV at 21, he's probably not going to make it to 40 & there is absolutely no way anybody is going to get $400,000 worth of health insurance premiums out of him. Obamacare was custom designed for the LGBTQ community. There was no way they could get health insurance any other way. And a disproportionate number of them are on Medicaid anyway.
