The family just filed a lawsuit last month.
I saw this story when I was looking up cases of special ed students attacking teachers.
I never heard of this case before then.
This lady died in 2021, but her family filed a lawsuit last month.
I don’t see anything that indicates this student was arrested or charged, like the other one has been.
“Special needs” today isn’t the same as special needs when we were growing up. I suspect most “special needs” kids today are there because parents and schools refuse to discipline them.
I dealt with mainstreaming back in about ‘95 I think it was. My son, near the end of the alphabet, was torn out of his advanced class with all his friends and “mainstreamed” to a mostly special education children class. I accused the principal of this and he of course denied it. I took my son out of the school and we moved to one of the few remaining small town systems in our area.
This was at the end of sixth grade. It had been a mostly white and asian school. That year they held an assembly to introduce the new school district from Missouri City, Texas. My son said it was like a gangster invasion of swaggering blacks and latinos.
You see, in the Sugar Land area of Fort Bend County, Texas the school districts are gerrymandered at the direction of the board of realtors to boost scores in new areas and prop up failing old areas to be able to move the houses. Missouri City was eliminated from the scoring by consolidating it with a very high scoring school in an established area. By doing that Missouri City was boosted to the average of the combined school, no damage was done to sales in the established slower moving realestate area and the board of realtors was satisfied.
I saw children who lived directly across from a school bussed two schools away to manage test scores for the various schools.
And now we learn that the monster that attacked the Teacher’s Aide in Florida was arrested THREE times before.
Whatever kind of school or facility, I hope it’s staffed by people who can physically handle these situations.
So, a kid who is totally out of control goes to kindergarten. He is quickly diagnosed with some sort of behavior handicap and given an I.E.P. His teacher may well be assigned an aide, just to keep him from hurting himself or his classmates. The aide will receive special training or restraining the lad. Federal law requires that he be isolated from ‘normal’ kids the minimum amount possible.
But the years pass. He has now grown into a 6’ 4”, 270 pound young adult. He still occasionally ‘acts out’. And the school has three or four just like him. So there may be one or two aides to help with him and the others, but since they are nearly always women, they no longer have the ability to stop him he goes berserk. A call has to go out for the school’s resource officer or football coach to come and help and by the time they get there, the damage has been done.
To fix all of this is going to require a major reworking of the laws governing how schools have to deal with those who really can’t be dealt with. Like bringing back places where crazy people can be safely housed. And I doubt that that will be allowed to happen.
She looks like a nice lady, and was willing to try to help these kids. How many of the violent, incorrigible were severly abused at home, or even damaged in the womb by their mother’s drug or alcohol abuse?
To add to your discomfort:
Almost ALL school districts multiply the budget for their “special needs’ students.
Our local district budgets 4 TIMES the regular student amount for ‘special needs’=== which means that it goes from about $7,000 to $28,000..
Special needs kids are kept “IN THE SCHOOL” until they are 22
then released back to their family.
IF you do the math-—almost $500,000 is spent on each of these kids-—and WHAT CAN THEY DO WHEN 22???
Some districts where I live have separate schools with special programs for developmentally disabled students, and separate schools for students with aggressive behaviors. That way, the sweet-natured kids aren't bullied by the "normal" kids, and the kids with behavioral problems have their own special program in another facility.
Yep. It’s all about test scores and appearances. Even when I was a teacher, I told anyone who asked: “Homeschool.”
It's funny, all those studies showing black students were getting disciplined more... I never saw a single one that checked to see what color the teachers were. Because if even black teachers are having trouble with black students, hello. Figure it out.
The culture is destructive and suicidal. Thank you for your service!
You as well! =)
Great story. The racial divide is exacerbated by the DEMONRATS for political gain. 99+ % of us just want what is best for ALL Americans.
