Here’s the problem with the National Review apologia for the J6 Committee:
1) Carlson did not deny that some demonstrators were violent and unruly, only contending that many were not, as the newly seen videos document. Should all of the defendants, including those who peacefully strolled through the Capitol after being waved in through open doors, be treated as violent insurrectionists, so threatening to the Republic that fundamental constitutional rights to a speedy trial and access to exculpatory evidence be denied?
The article is silent on this point, and apparently untroubled. The fate of people held in solitary confinement under severe conditions without trial for over 2 years is of no concern, one gathers.
2) The article chastises Carlson for using the word “murder,” which “has a legal context” to describe the killing of Ashli Babbitt when she was climbing through a broken window, unarmed, and too small in stature to conceivably pose a physical threat to the scandal-plagued Capitol Police officer who shot her.
3) The snide treatment of Tucker’s analysis of Ray Epps may be the most offensive part of the article. Note the scare quotes and use of “conspiratorial” to dismiss without evidence.
Et tu, National Review?
The Deep State is running scared now that the House is controlled by Republicans who are exposing their actions for the last two years.
National Review went the way of Drudge and so many other outlets.
Tucker disturbed the nest of the State Aligned Media and they are attacking him like a bunch of hornets.
Every convection of the January 6 protesters will be overturned on appeal because the government withheld evidence from trial. Totally Illegal and totalitarian.
Are we still caring what the official organ of the GOPe says? I stopped paying any attention to them years ago.
That rag died when Buckley passed.
All of these Uniparty (R) Judases came out of the closet during the coup. On 1/7/21 the entire DC Uniparty (R) machine rubber stamped the insurrection. No surprises here, more federal statist stooges plying their trade.
The trouble with Republicans is, to them, politics is just a child’s game where nobody except Republicans AND THEIR FAMILIES should get hurt. To the far left Dung beetles, politics is a bloody war where everyone who is not an obedient Dung beetle is supposed to constantly get their asses kicked.
National Review was always the “gate keepers” for allowable conservative thought in America .
At least before they had William F Buckley who was smart and had a sense of humor.
Now? I don’t know why it still exists
Money quote
[[ “By controlling the images that you were allowed to view from January 6, they controlled how the public understood that day,” Carlson declared. “They could lie about that day, and you would never know the difference.”]]
Exactly! Any govenrment that can’t stand for the truth to be known, can’t stand transparency, is obviously up to no good. The more the gov and ilk protest the footage, the more they prove that they are up to no good, and that they don’t want the public to see proof of what real.y happened happened that day.
The old saying “Methinks the lady doth protest too much” is very apropos here! She protests, too much because she is afraid of being found out!
Don’t they have cruises to shill for?
I saw Tucker’s first night, not the second (yet).
The video of the QAnon Shaman walking of his own volition with and by multiple police officers makes a strong impression. If you received a friendly escort by police, would you think you were doing anything wrong? Would you expect to go to jail for four years?
I’ve previously seen video of police opening the Capital building doors from the inside, motioning people to come in. I hope Tucker re-posts that at some point.
Tucker showed video of a police officer that had been reportedly killed earlier. Maybe I’m missing something. I could use some time-stamp information. Also I could not see the face. I could benefit from additional information to identify the officer. I expect Tucker is right, but he may have rushed his presentation.
If Ray Epps was not working for law enforcement, wouldn’t they have pursued him at some point? I believe the authorities have hunted down others who had far less involvement.
It seems reasonable to conclude that Epps was working for the Feds. Why did he urge people to go into the Capital?
Tucker’s video shows a large number of people acting peaceably and some acting violently. These are two different groups of people. Yet the MSM/Democrat narrative present them as one.
You would expect the feds to go after the violent offenders. But that seems not to have been the case.
Tucker dashed NR’s hopes of a historical news story and Tucker performed brilliantly.
William F. Buckley, Jr. is rolling over in his grave. The National Review isn’t good enough to line a bird cage these days. I’m positive their lack of subscribers attest to that fact.
Of course, it’s NR. Don’t expect anything less from them.
Some pre-Schadenfreude there.
Who? Does anyone read that rag anymore? National Review is exactly the type of professional conservatism that resulted in Liberalism winning most of the cultural and economic battles of the past couple decades. They write nice articles, but their principles stop them from doing what it takes to win or fight back.
