British energy giant Shell ensured the pay package for the company’s CEO jumped by half last year to nearly $12 million as oil and gas companies made record profits from runaway energy costs and consumers struggled with a global cost-of-living crisis.

AP reports London-based Shell paid Ben van Beurden a total of $11.5 million in 2022 as annual company profits doubled to an all-time high of $40 billion because Russia’s war in Ukraine sent oil and gas prices soaring.

Van Beurden stepped down at the end of last year after 40 years at the company.

Profits are evil. Oil profits are super evil.

A gift from those who brought you sanctions and Nordstrom pipeline destruction. Wean the world off of cheap Russian oil and onto high priced global empire oil. Nope no problem. It’s for democracy.

if you make, for example 5% on a barrel of oil profit, and the price goes from 50$ to 150$, your profits triple without raising the % of profit.

If you want to be a communist, just say it. Otherwise shut up about someone making a profit.

The Dims are supposed to be anti “Big Oil”, but everybody in DC knows that the Dims’ stupid energy policies make oil companies richer at our expense.

There is that little bit about we cheer profits earned during free market competition - not using government power to destroy the competition - that part.

What you’re missing is that Breitbart has gone from an investigative asset to a useless tabloid operation.

They have really turned to crap.

This is standard commie boilerplate narrative. Rich CEO’s profit while the common man suffers. It has become cliché.

If he gives 10% to Hunter Biden and donates to leftist NGOs, all this dirty money will be made clean

Anyone else remember when the BP CEO referred to us citizens as “the little people”? That was following the Gulf oil spill. It’s obvious that’s what the big shots think of the East Palestine residents even now.

The left will only bitch & moan if they are subject to loss of pension/stock gains due to policies in their states which divested of carbon-based fuels.

But that won’t stop them from demonizing the industry and the rich.

lol no. The demonization of oil companies is never ending.

What was Apple’s profit last year? How much slave labor do they employ? Oh...squirrel!

An industry that generally makes a 10% profit margin will profit “billions” due to the size of the industry.

Imagine if they all closed shop tomorrow!

because Russia’s war in Ukraine sent oil and gas prices soaring.

Oil and gas prices were sent soaring by Joe Biden on his first day in office. Russian's war in Ukraine was piling on. I expect better from Breitbart.

…and the federal and state governments will make a VAST multiple of his salary - dwarfing the profits of the entire company.
