Bar Associations seem to me to be a Monopoly whereas they can dictate privledge based on any reasoning they can come up with that a lawyer can be sanctioned or disbarred.

Why is it that a Bar Association is even needed?

What real service do they provide other than deciding who is in the club?

They are a guild, just like the ama. Weird how they have so much authority and no competition.

The Bar used to be administered by the State Supreme courts.

That power was delegated to the Bar Association - essentially a craft guild - by their lobbying.

In Arizona there is now a bill to revoke that power and give it back to the State Supreme court precisely because of abuses like this.

Wont pass with Hobbs in power but its a start, will be an issue from now on.
