Trad wives used to have it much tougher, even 70-100 years ago. There was a lot more cleverness needed and there was hard physical work. Such as doing the wash with no machine. Managing family food supply with no refrigerator. Managing cooking fuels such as wood or coal. Managing the heating fuel supply. Sewing clothing and mending them. (with no sewing machine)

As always and today..... managing rambunctious children and educating them up to school age. Or beyond
