I agree with you, but I think it's actually worse than that. It's more than just him listening to advisors. On the matter of Ukraine specifically, DeSantis has been given a "good talking to." In the GOP, a person repudiates the neo-Con warmonger class at his or her peril. DeSantis obviously caved, and almost immediately, by the looks of it.
If the man ever did have any authenticity to his political persona, he's kicked that well and truly to the curb. He's just another pol, who knows what lines can't be crossed. Let's just say that the wellbeing of the American people is not his highest priority. He owes his allegiance to an altogether different tribe.
The path DeSantis is on leads to the Land of Bland, where so many politicians live. He won't rock any boats, he'll tell the Lincoln Day Dinners what they want to hear. He'll say what the "advisors" want him to say, but he'll never be himself, off-the-cuff, unrehearsed, uttering a politically-incorrect comment now and then that has a lot of truth to it. Engaging us as one of us.
In these crazy times, we're all looking for REAL, not programmed. Candidates at all levels should take note.
That is it exactly..."if you want to get our cash you got to play our game".
