Bordeaux town hall set on fire as pension reform protests continue in France

Police fired tear gas and fought with violent black-clad anarchists in France on Thursday as more than a million mainly peaceful protesters marched against President Emmanuel Macron’s plan to raise the pension age.

In a ninth day of nationwide protests, train and air travel was disrupted while teachers were among many professions to walk off the job, just days after the government pushed through legislation to raise the retirement age by two years to 64.

In Bordeaux, photos showed the city’s town hall alight on Thursday evening. It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the fire, which was promptly brought under control.

In the western town of Lorient, Ouest-France newspaper said projectiles caused a brief fire in the yard of a police station.

Demonstrations in central Paris attended by 119,000 were generally peaceful, but smaller groups of “Black Bloc” anarchists smashed shop windows, demolished street furniture and ransacked a McDonalds restaurant. Clashes ensued as riot police moved in and drove back the anarchists with tear gas and stun grenades.

Interesting.

Taking a selfie in Nancy Pelosi's office - "insurrection"

Burning down a town hall - "protest"

Got it.

We have a ringside seat.

“mainly peaceful protesters”

There’s that phrase again. It appears global media are in lockstep with our own Goebels media

Not many can protest harder than a Frenchman being forced to work.
Frenchies; surrender monkeys and lazy.

Macron should raise taxes or make other cuts in the welfare state if they want to keep the pensions as it is.

Hmmm...

35 hour work week, they don’t want to work until age 64, but they have plenty of energy to riot.

Burning down a town hall - "protest"

The media say, fiery, but mostly peaceful. What idiots.

From what I understand it was not pension reform per se but this has been building for years. Remember the “gilets jaunes” (yellow vests) from while ago, well it’s back with a vengeance.

Macron bypassed the legislature to implement this new “law”. (Think about how for instance the ATF bypassed congress to outlaw pistol braces, not too much protest from us about the democratic process, just court challenges and letters).

This was the final straw that broke the camel’s back, much like Dutch farmers pushing back so hard.

Europe is much closer to the WEF’s goal than we are; things are getting desperate for them. Coming here if a Dem is elected in 2024.

Just wait until the French don’t have any more money to fund the pension system.

This idea of them being surrender monkeys...I wonder if the USA is considered surrender monkeys after Bataan? Or North Africa during the retreat in terror there? Or lately..Afghanistan?
Did the French fight during WW1? Or was that an imagination?

They fought the Prussians and lost. Just like the USA would have lost the war of 1812 if it were not for the Brits being held busy with Napoleon..who BTW went all the way to take Moscow...his biggest mistake. Did they not engage most of the European nations after that?

Historically, the French, which includes all of the Norman regions are the hardest and most vicious fighters the world has ever seen.

Although I woudnt trust any of them right now, we owe them a debt of gratitude for our independence. And they owe us a debt of gratitude for theirs. Makes us even I guess.

BTW..take a LOOOOONG look at our military right now. We couldnt fight our way out of a wet paper bag with this military..other than maybe the Navy.

By our standards, yes, they are lazy. But their working conditions are mandated by the government. And they have the audacity to expect the government to keep its promises. It would be as if Brandon issued an executive order raising the retirement age to 70, bypassing Congress.

Macron may well be right in trying to increase the retirement age, but I don’t think this will end well for him. The French seem to be willing and able to stand up on their hind legs when they think the government is screwing them over.

Funny that Leftists are burning the place down because an “elite” Leftist made a typical Leftist unilateral move - because Leftists enterprises cost money that has to be supplied by workers...
