Well over 5000 MWh of NY electricity is generated by fossil fuels. Vast majority of that is natural gas! This represents over 50% of the energy source for electricity generation in NY. Why stop with natural gas powered appliances? Ban natural gas for producing electricity in NY if you are really serious! Banning natural gas appliances just means burning natural gas to create electricity to power those new appliances! Where is the savings?

It’s about abandoning underground deteriorating gas supply lines. Too expensive to fix and not enough skilled workers to do it. Right now in some older east coast cities up to 26% of the gas is leaking out under the streets.

I can’t see how this is constitutional. And, anyone who seriously cooks knows that you can’t do it with electric stoves. What if there’s a blackout? Then you couldn’t cook. With the older gas ranges, at least you could strike a match and cook. What about the Hampton biggies? Are they going to surrender their Viking and Wolf ranges? Dream on!
