Any well running gasoline powered car will be prized as the government moves to make new sales mostly EVs.
They coulda started with this instead of ending with it because this is the money statement:
“[Automakers] are not manufacturing as many as they have because they got the taste of gold — huge profits from not having so many vehicles in manufacturing.”
Auto makers and dealerships may just be THE greediest industry in America.........I hate ‘em like poison.
Cas for clunkers,...
The government took in used cars and POURED ACID INTO THE CARBURETOR so it could never ne used again
They took the ‘broken window’ theory of economics as a tutorial instead of the dire warning that it is.
This report ignores the increasing number or repossessed vehicles due to an inability to make car payments for various reasons: Layoffs in high tech, interest rate increases, bank instability, poor economy, etc.
That was the plan all along ... and "15 days to flatten the curve" was the tipoff to the plan.
I got my old beater in 2006 for $5000 at a used dealer lot. Today, I see the same make model and year for over $8000. I was looking at used small pickups and 20 year old Toyota Tacomas are over $10k. We can really thank Obama’s cash for clunkers to get it all messed up.
I can’t help but think that Hussein’s “Cash For Clunkers” program might have something to do with this. Those beautiful cars being destroyed ... shameful. They weren’t all “clunkers”.
So, unless something TRULY serious goes wrong, the “used car” I already own is the best used car I could buy anywhere, and no hugely increased monthly payments.
The vehicle I now have will probably be sold out of my estate inventory.
The used car market will be boosted by repossessed vehicles. The economic downturn has increased repos as out of work people can no longer afford their car notes.

“Cox Automotive doesn’t expect the total number of used sales to return to pre-pandemic levels until at least 2026.”
Hmmm, just as the EV Mandates start to kick-in...
Why wouldn’t this concept work for all other consumer goods? Cut back on the production of houses / computers / TVs / Soft Drinks / telephones / exercise equipment / baseball bats. Drive the price WAY UP and get rich.
Because someone else will crank up production and grab a larger market share.
