We know that electric vehicles, whose manufacture requires rare earth minerals mined by third-world children, aren't clean.
We also know that electric vehicles, which get their electrical charge from coal-fired plants and emit more carbon dioxide than conventional vehicles, aren't green.
We also know that electric vehicles, as recent storms and heat waves have indicated, aren't reliable
Now we learn that even at $70,000 a pop, complete with tax savings and government subsidies, green vehicles aren't profitable, either.
According to Breitbart News:
Ford Motor Company says its electric vehicle (EV) unit, “Ford Model e,” is losing billions of dollars, and should be viewed as a startup company.
Model e has lost $3 billion before taxes over the last two years, and is expected to lose another $3 billion this year as the company invests in the new technology, according to a report by Associated Press.
In 2021, Ford’s Model e unit had pretax losses of $900 million. And in 2022, that number was $2.1 billion. Ford reportedly believes Model e will be profitable before taxes by late 2026, with an eight percent pretax profit margin.
Three billion dollars is a lot of money to lose, even for a company like Ford. Breitbart described it as "bleeding red ink."
With that many negatives, all of which contradict the claims that electric vehicles are the wave of the future, why the heck are these things still being made?

And out of elec. But, I can hardly wait until the Charget R/T with it's faux exhaust sound system come out.. NOT!
We are already at peak lithium.
The EV vs ICE battle was fought over 100 years ago with ICE being the winner. EVs will lose again. It will remain a niche product due to physics.
The government requirements are forcing auto manufacturers to overcharge ICE vehicles, increasing inflation.
Folks should buy Ford shares. With all of this negativity, the market makers will run the stock UP in the next few days. Call me on it if I’m wrong. I dare you.

Are they expecting government subsidies for electric car production, since producing electric cars ties in with all the green energy / reduced emissions business, which government policies are favoring?
Isn’t it also a fact, that under the tax code, these losses will help offset profits from other Ford products, so that they will incur lower tax bills from this?
The biggest losers are the idiots buying them. If FJB runs in 2024, I can see his ass-kissing supporters demanding that he “cancel” their car loans before they’ll vote for him.
It was also doomed by the truths of political economies.
Government planners, generally guided by political metaphysics, set up false goals to be followed by business or public to their detriment.
Wishing does not replace engineering utilizing maturing principles ready for market.
Government well wishes and special treatment does not a market make.
Seeing how the government will forse them on all of us they will be fine.
They can always make it up in volume.
The key point is easier to see than this.
If you want an EV, you are going to shop Tesla, Honda or Toyota.
Tesla delivers and the other two have proven track record of building reliability.
No one is going to look at GM, Ford or Chrysler.
All three have a LONG track record of poor engineering of new technology.
Someday when technology matures. Not now. You can’t mandate technology. The goal is probably to get people off the road and stay 15 minutes from home.
If this won’t play because you don’t have twitter, I advise you to find someone that does so you can watch it.

Ford is an ESG car manufacturer.
Ford made a big mistake dropping cars that are affordable. Nit many folks can pay 60-100k for a truck. I have o idea how the worker guys afford to buy a work truck.
Toyota isn’t going to make EVs I thought
They dropped the “affordable” cars because they made no money on them.
We love our 2022 escape PHEV.
I heard the same thing. Currently saving up to buy a used Tundra, hopefully before the end of the year.
Of all the EV makers, only Tesla paid back their loan. All the rest are like pigs in a trough. That is why BeijingBiden did not have Tesla at latest trough frenzy.
EV is junk tech. But, companies will build them if someone is fool enough to buy. The difference is that Tesla sells enough to make profit. The others are parasites on Fed gov’mt — your taxpayer dollars.
