Evangelicals Say Ron DeSantis Is Threatening Religious liberty With His Support For A Bill That Criminalizes Aid For Immigrants
Insider via Yahoo ^ | 03/31/23 | Charles R. Davis

At issue is a provision in the bill that would impose, per the legislative text: "criminal penalties for persons who knowingly and willfully violate, or who reasonably should know and who violate, certain provisions relating to the transporting into or within this state, or the concealing, harboring, or shielding from detection, or the attempt thereof, of individuals who entered the United States unlawfully and without inspection by the Federal Government."

Violators could be charged with a second-degree felony under the bill, which in Florida is punishable by up to 15 years in prison. The bill is also opposed by the ACLU, with its Florida chapter noting that it could criminalize providing transport or shelter to people "who have lived in Florida for decades and have US-born children."

“The term “Evangelical” is almost meaningless now. The word “Catholic” is almost meaningless now. The word “Baptist” is almost meaningless now. The word Presbyterian is almost meaningless now. The word “Judaism” is almost meaningless now.
You can find any stripe of religious dogma and any brand of politics operating under those labels.”

I think the “reporting” issue is that the journalists have an agenda, a narrative, and if any group calls itself a group of “Evangelicals” or any other group identity, THAT group identity is what the “journalists” will go with, to intentionally apply that group identity to some position, as if to say to ALL - see even “Evangelicals” are opposed/in favor of .......... (whatever), as the “journalists” way of selling a position they agree with.

Wow. Quite a list. Disappointed to see some of those listed. They are too focused on their mission acting as (mostly) white saviors of brown people without appreciation of the larger picture of the illegal immigration crisis.

They pretend every illegal alien is a noble victim looking for a way out of poverty but it’s a zero sum game. The answer is for them to become reformers at home not selfish takers abroad. I am tired of hearing but “Americans have so much” but we are diminished more and more everyday with inflationary policies, saddled with unpayable debts, with food and housing insecurity for our own and fascist mandates. We are less free today than four years ago.

At least Salvation Army helps Americans in crisis as well.

When I was a Californian, I crossed the border to help in Mexico. I didn’t smuggle immigrants. I also didn’t give money to immigrants living in local canyons or pay for day laborers.

Since moving to Atlanta I have tried to help locals get on their feet (only to be exploited and stolen from) but I find some people won’t address their behaviors and always end up back where you found them. Or worse. These days I have been forced to pivot toward looking out for myself which is sad. I had greater faith in humanity when I was younger. Our path towards self-annihilation, perpetual grievances, victimhood and fascism seems inevitable.

I don’t know how we fix America at this point. We can’t even have conversations with each other for fear of being ruined, maimed, cancelled, marginalized, doxed and impoverished.

Bringing people in illegally from third world countries is NOT a solution.

I’m a Biblical Christian Trump supporter and I stand with DeSantis on this.

One minister said: “As Christians, we are commanded to love our neighbors as ourselves, and that includes immigrants that God brings into our state,”

How does/did this pastor decide that God brought the illegal immigrants into their state???? Isn’t that a kind of arrogant attitude about what one thinks “God” is doing??? Or does that position simply mirror what the pastor wants to do, by his own ego-choosing wants to do??? Do you help the criminal keep out of the escape of the law. Is that what a Christian is supposed to do??? Oh, I see, the pastor thinks he gets to determine the criminals he will help shelter, becuase he, the pastor, chooses, NOT because Christ commands it of him.

Same.

My spouse and I concluded, after seeing our church on that list, that someday, not in the far future, there will be a new group of Christians. They will not of any denomination, but will be banded together, non-woke, Bible-beliving, Christ followers from many backgrounds. Yes, it will include believing Catholics. There will be a new common denominator: Jesus.

Never use the word with an upper-case e. Some churches have tried to appropriate the true meaning of the word.

They aren’t immigrants and they damn sure aren’t “refugees”. They’re freeloading invaders. I’ve seen real refugees before and they didn’t dress like they’re going to Applebee’s and then to Walmart while yaking on a cellphone.

He mentions only two opponents. Jody Ray, a pastor at Chets Creek Church in Jacksonville, and a guy named Saguero. The usual left wing BS.

None of these churches are following a biblical gospel so what do you expect. Especially the Southern Baptist Convention which I was once a member. The SBC sold its soul to progressivism long ago. In fact you would be hard pressed to find a church that teaches and practices the true gospel as written in the word of God, the Holy Bible. My wife and I gave up on finding a church that believes that the Bible is absolutely the truth and that God’s commandments do not change to comply with man’s idea of progress. Those of us who know the Bible is true and that its end times prophesies are being fulfilled at an alarming pace. While we weep for what we know is ahead for this world we are also uplifted in knowing that every filled prophesy puts the glorious day of the return of our lord that much closer.

We cannot take in millions of illegals and then give them freebies.. That being thought of being done, has to be for their own personal gain. at all others’ expense.

These illegals ... it angers me every time there is a picture of them walking into our gates and of course, expecting everything.

There is right and there is wrong.. everything the joe and the dems have done are not only wrong.. they have catastrophic consequences. and they don’t care!
