Author James Patterson rips New York Times over its ‘bonkers’ Best Sellers list
NY POST ^ | 4/3/23 | David Propper

Renowned author James Patterson has ripped the New York Times in a fiery open letter over its “lack of journalistic rigor” regarding its Best Sellers list — after the closely-watched list snubbed his highly-reviewed novel about law enforcement in America.

Patterson, 76, said his new book “Walk the Blue Line: No Right, No Left – Just cops telling their true stories to James Patterson” initially failed to make the list even though he said it outsold all but three of the books on the list of 15, according to BookScan, which compiles book sales data.

He accused the Times of “cooking the books” on its esteemed best-selling list.

“I understand you responded to a recent query from my publisher regarding a book containing what I believe to be important and illuminating firsthand stories by American police – by saying that you don’t just pay attention to ‘raw’ sales,” he wrote in a statement posted to Twitter Wednesday. “I guess that means you favor the cooked variety.”

Patterson told Fox News on Sunday that not making the New York Times list upon release hurts an author’s chance at better sales and publicity.

NY Times spins, suppresses real news, lies, and spews propaganda about everything else

Why does anyone expect their “best-sellers list” to be accurate?

Four things are “fixed” in the USA:

Professional wrestling

Elections

The pseudo-justice system

Bestseller lists

Michael Savage discussed this over the years. They try to compress sales to influence how book stores and the Amazon buyers at home take the book seriously. A quick start on the top of the lists means money for the rest of the year in sales. All the tv shows totally boycotted Savage.

Note: The President Is Missing and the President’s Daughter are phony “By Bill Clinton” and Patterson. Maybe an index card’s worth of lines by Clinton, of course. And how does Patterson write so many mystery and other books (with co-authors)? A brief outline and then tells the authors to “got to work on this thing.”?

Perhaps there are parameters set, expectations of certain plot points within the three-act structure. How detailed the parameters are determine whether they become a "formula".

The system is this.

A slime like Obama has a book ghosted for him. He goes to a pet publisher.

The people who want to buy him buy a few million copies of Obama's "book," as a school donation, deducts the cost as a charitable donation and stashes them in a cargo container, for shipment overseas, to be pulped.

The NYT puts on their "best sellers" list parody.

Obama becomes a millionaire, and buys a few beachfront houses, and remembers his friends.

It's the Chicago Way.

Anyone recall when Rod Blagojevich sold Obama's senate seat, for $50,000, and didn't give Barry a taste?

Gee, next we’ll hear that the Nobel Prize, the Academy Awards, and the Oscars are all a liberal beauty contest sham.

Yup.

The good old reliable democrat money laundering scheme. Hillary Clinton mastered it. She's written (actually had ghostwritten) about 10 books and they all seem to end up on the NYT bestsellers list despite no one I know having ever purchased one.

I would actually go one further than the scenario you described. In this age of electronic publishing with Kindle and other e-books I doubt the majority of these books are actually printed, just move some electrons around and have them land in the right columns to record a sale then transfer the money.

It's long been obvious these giant book deals like the Obama's $67 million deal right after he left office are just money laundering schemes. It's the same with the speaking engagements. Some professional group pays Bill Clinton $250,000 to speak to them for a half hour? Yeah right, nobody in their right mind would find anything he had to say worth that. It's just a kickback/money laundering scheme and the speaking fees are to make it look legal.

Here’s a handy rule of thumb. If the New York Times does it, it doesn’t matter and there nothing of value in it.

Why the NY Times is still has any cred when it comes to literature today is beyond me. All this “#1 NY Times bestseller” CRAP has to end because they are obviously abusing it to sell books. Nobody believes Hillarys last book was a #1 best seller.

This has been going on for 30 years. NYT has never told the truth and book lists have been cooked. James Dobson spoke about it atlength. None of his multi milli selling books ever made their lists.

Never expect truth on the left.

As a friend of the Clintons, he must have thought he was immune to wokeism. Then he wrote a book that wasn’t critical of LE.

Welcome to our world James . . .
