The other day I called my cable company about a problem. I was stuck talking with some automated bot that kept giving me the same instructions. Eventually found a way to talk to a real person. But she wasn't much better.
Those who created farm tractors didn’t want to pay for human labor either.

Species come and go. There is no reason to believe that humans are the ultimate end of evolution.
It appears that the universe is designed so that organic life forms are simply stepping stones to advanced non-organic intelligences.
Stars with planets are spaced so widely that organic life forms are isolated from each other during the period when they first originate and evolve in each planetary system.
Eventually, an organic life form gives rise to a non-organic life form with indefinite life span. These intelligences can then embark on interstellar travel, since they can easily “sleep” for the required durations.

Darwinian means natural selection (change over time by natural means). He was spot on.
However people use the term to mean whatever they want. There is nothing Darwinian about this. This is purely a product of man ie. directed selection.

Starlink doesn’t concern any more than other “emerging” technologies(at this time). AI is the biggest threat on the horizon.

When I get a voice bot, I go through my list: “Agent. Representative. Associate. Human. Support. Person.” One of those often (but not always) gets me to a person, usually “Fred” or “Bob” or “Karen” in the Philippines. You can always tell within 30 seconds if the person knows anything. I had a guy a couple days ago who kept pronouncing “virtual” as “vehicle” and that really threw me off because I called about my virtual credit card.
It’s grandmother was named Eliza.
She is STILL working, as her retirement has been wiped out due to funds sent to Ukraine.

At this stage of the game, death seems to have lost it’s grip on me.
