The Chicago Tribune congratulated Mayor-Elect Brandon Johnson Wednesday, but balked at his lack of praise for former President Barack Obama, whose political rise began in their city, despite acknowledging God.
The Tribune editorial board hailed "Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson" as the incoming 57th mayor of Chicago, noting he is an "inspiring orator" and claiming, "This will be a City Hall first for most Chicagoans." The paper praised his charisma on stage as a "quality that many of Johnson’s predecessors in the office have lacked," but said one aspect of his acceptance speech was noticeably missing.
"He found a place for God, but not, strikingly, for Barack Obama, inarguably the most important leader this city ever has produced," the editorial board wrote. "The omission was telling, a reminder that the progressive movement of which Johnson now is a Midwest standard-bearer, feels ambivalent about the former Chicago community organizer and his more pragmatic legacy."

Didn’t the Tribune used to be the “Conservative” Chicago paper?
Did the Chicago Tribune accidentally print a Babylon Bee story?
Trick question. Obama IS God.
Yep, so was Karl Marx and they are cut from the same vein evidently.
That was when Col. McCormick owned it. The paper has changed hands several times since then.
"He found a place for God, but not, strikingly, for Barack Obama, inarguably the most important leader this city ever has produced," the editorial board wrote.
That doesn't say much for the leaders the city has produced. It seems like only NYC city politicians make much of an impact on the country's politics, and hardly any mayor of NYC has gone on to higher office, but one could make the case the older Mayor Dailey made an impression on the nation.
"The omission was telling, a reminder that the progressive movement of which Johnson now is a Midwest standard-bearer, feels ambivalent about the former Chicago community organizer and his more pragmatic legacy."
No, it's more that he doesn't want to forever be in the shadow of the guy who left Chicago as soon as he could for DC, Hawaii, and Martha's Vineyard.
“Trick question. Obama IS God.”
Not quite the same class. To know God is to be joyfully content in all circumstances because He is enough. God is the alpha/omega and Obama is already too much and there doesn’t seem to by any end to him.

Obama squandered his unique opportunity in American history. We must be thankful he kept Hillary and McCain out of the White House and, in light of more recent revelations about his true politics, Romney as well.
It’s almost like Living Colour wrote this song about Obama...

The success of the city is indicative of the BHO agenda for America.
In the time it took for me to read that article, 5 people got shot in Chicago.
“Most important leader.”
Thanks Mike Ditka.
Do Americans know the difference between God and Obamama? Do they even care?
Meh. “The most important leader this city ever has produced” was Al Capone. His legacy lives on.
That depends how you define ‘IS’.
How dare he diss the God of Wakanda, Barry Soetero.
The success of the city is indicative of the BHO agenda for America.
The tribune didn’t like which God he honored. He didn’t pick theirs.
I was flying to Hawaii, via SFO, when the Lightworker, kind of a god, Obama was inaugurated. Some dirty smelly hipster types had set up an entire shrine to that evil Marxist scumbag. People do indeed see him as their god. What an empty meaningless life one must have to worship some scumbag like Obama.
