Donald Trump, Tiberius Gracchus, And America’s Immiment End
American Thinker ^ | April 7, 2023 | Vince Coyner

Donald Trump’s indictment makes one wonder if the members of the Democrat party have ever picked up a history book, walked by one in a library, or accidentally heard an episode of the History of Rome podcast. I doubt it because if they had, they’d know that Rome didn’t transition from a republic to an empire overnight, and they’d be familiar with the modern iteration of the George Santayana adage: Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.

By the time Caesar became dictator in 49 BC, the Republic was already gone in everything but name only. The Republic’s collapse had been put in motion 80 years before with the murder of Tiberius Gracchus.

Gracchus was a populist Plebeian tribune, essentially the equivalent of being a member of our House of Representatives. Citizens loved him, and the aristocratic Senate hated him. His assassination points the way to Caesar:

[T]he oligarchy had introduced violence into the political system with the murder of Tiberius Gracchus and over the years the use of violence became increasingly acceptable as various political disputes in Rome led to more and more bloody discord.

With Gracchus’s death, violence became an increasingly common political weapon in Rome, with Sulla’s purges early in the 1st century BC as the clearest example. Sulla executed 9,000 rival Marian partisan supporters, without regard for age or sex.

Before I hear anybody respond to Trumps doom and gloom warnings I ask one simple question:

What will happen to Americans when the US Dollar is no longer the world currency?

Oddly, everyone that hates Trump cannot answer this question. They can’t believe that it will happen, cannot understand the consequences of the disaster that is Democrats, FedGov, and what effect it will have on the Citizens of this nation.

The giant party is about to end, and it’s going to be dirty, stinking, filthy mess that people will have to suffer through to clean it up. Maybe, just maybe, people will learn something along the way.....

Those that Hate President Trump are leeches on society and do not / have never worked (communist rabble rousers) and have no knowledge, nor do they care, about financial matters.

I assume Americans will become much poorer when the dollar is no longer the world currency, but I don’t know enough economics to really know all the downstream effects.

Feel free to enlighten me, because I would love to know.

Don’t count the dollar out so fast. No one trusts the heathen Chinese.

That is the great hope. I suspect the Chinese are propping up these valueless Crypto currencies and they are pulling the strings behind the curtain.

It will be world wide economic collapse if the US dollar is not the reserve currency. Nobody will want US Treasurys and our Debt will come due. No more Budget Deficits. It could be catastrophic.

Tiberius Gracchus is exactly who I was thinking of comparing Trump to when comparing ourselves to the late Roman Republic. The Grachii brothers were also from a wealthy and prominent family.

Hopefully it goes better for Trump (and Donald Trump Jr? He’s got a bright future in politics if he wants it) and better for America than it did for Rome. Rome descended into the dictatorships of Marius, then Sulla then Julius Caesar eventually followed by Augustus as first once side and then the other seized power in what amounted to a century and a half of civil war ending in dictatorship.

The federal government will go broke and the people money will be worthless so everything will be very expensive. Think of Germany in the 1920s/30s. It will make the Great Depression look like a picnic. Better stock up on canned goods. Lots and lots of canned goods.

Canned goods, boxes of cereal, protein bars, bottled water, and any other food with a long shelf life. Lots of ammunition too.
Those survival rations that are advertised are good too. I must look into those.

Hell no I don't wonder. They think they are smart, they are certainly credentialed. But they are historically illiterate. Fifty-seven states? Corpse man? They speak Austrian in Austria. Their ignorance is exceeded only by their arrogance.

Don't forget the booze and tobacco products too. Great for barter even if you don't use them.

Conservatives sure like to think America is coming to an end.

Neocons sure like to delude themselves with the notion that empires are eternal and don't run their course.

Pssst. America is well past the consummation phase and knee deep into the destruction phase. There's nothing to like about this fact.
