Donald Trump Jr. has said he signed a check used as evidence by prosecutors in the hush money investigation that resulted in his father's historic indictment.
Former President Donald Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records as part of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's probe, which focused on a $130,000 sum that Trump's former attorney Michael Cohen paid adult film star Stormy Daniels to keep an alleged affair she claimed she had with Trump a secret ahead of the 2016 Election.
Trump has denied having an affair with Daniels, and has accusing prosecutors of engaging in a politically-motivated witch-hunt.
The actual payment to Daniels is not illegal, but Trump is accused of falsifying business records while reimbursing Cohen for the money, which was listed in Trump Organization records as legal fees. Prosecutors allege the money paid to Cohen was a violation of federal election laws.

The case ASSUMES the payment was in support of a federal crime. BUT, Trump was never found guilty of such a crime. Indeed, the FEC considered the matter and passed on it.
THEREFORE the cases fails. People are innocent until proven guilty. You can’t backdoor a federal crime, never committed, to shift reporting error, if it was a reporting error, from a misdemeanor into a felony, and to extend the statue of limitations.
Get a clue.

The irony is that if Trump wasn't such a cheapskate and simply payed her out of his own pocket, he wouldn't be in this mess. But he had to save a buck, shuffled everything around, and left a paper-trail.

The issue is that no specific law was cited for any of the 34 charges, and that the statute of limitations for felony fraud ran out in 2021. It's been reported that Bragg is using an exception to the rule for filing his charges past the statute of limitations, claiming that because Trump wasn't living in New York, he wasn't able to be served, but that won't fly, because Trump still doesn't live in New York.
Probably lots of people but nobody is investigating this because Democrats surround themselves with competent, loyal wingmen who have their backs.

I may be wrong but I thought the check was a monthly to Cohen for legal services, not written to Stormy.
Cohen was being paid back for the payment he had made to Daniels on Trump’s behalf.
