How much energy does it take to extract the hydrogen? A lot more than you get out of it I’ll bet. This is the achilles heel of most of these “alternatives”.

Hydrogen would be better than driving around with these lithium time bombs. The question is how to make it economical.

A lot more than you get out of it I’ll bet. This is the Achilles heel of most of these “alternatives”. Even if it is close, it might be worth it. Don't think of it so much as new energy, but as energy storage.

Of course, untold billions are being apent to warp our culture and economy for a non-problem.

Hydrolysis using electricity makes hydrogen that can be stored. That is a virtual storage system for solar systems, wind systems and tidal systems. No longer will expensive battery systems be required. When you consider the energy losses when you follow electricity generation from the source, through the transmission lines, through the distribution system and into the recharging circuitry, you have little return for the energy created. Converting electricity into hydrogen is much more efficient.
