A prominent pro-Kremlin propagandist has been unmasked as a 37-year-old Navy veteran and tropical fish seller from New Jersey.

Divorcee Sarah Bils is known to her 100,000 devoted fans online as 'Donbas Devushka', or Donbas Girl.

She posed as a Russian Jew from the occupied Ukrainian city of Luhansk and a geopolitics expert.

-snip-

She left the military in November last year with an honorable discharge but only after being demoted.

Bils claims she was 'kicked out' of the Navy due to her 'leftist views.'

Has ANYONE not previously possessing a security clearance ever been prosecuted for disseminating classified information that has already been made public in a significant manner?

I can't think of any such instances, tho' I could be wrong. In any event, there is the Law, and then there is prosecutorial discretion and precedent.

She disseminated altered and forged classified information, though. Who else was part of this conspiracy?

Oh, I was thinking more of the dustup above regarding the Daily Mail.

‘Donbass Devushka’ is guilty at least of fraud — I can’t imagine there is no penalty for altering and disseminating fraudulent copies of classified docs.

I think it’s likely she was just the admin for the account and much of the content/direction was coming from FSB operatives operating in a network.

Not at FR.At you. Still classified no matter how much it’s been revealed. You’re just full of BS

While you aren’t supposed to get so personal, you really don’t understand that photo is everyday stuff now?

And how do you know that photo which has been worldwide for all this time is still being labeled classified today?

In spite of that, we'll see if the Democrat Administration will be honest enough, for once, to prosecute her for being a traitor.

Based on the quantity of what seemed to be "original content" she distributed, while also doing podcasts and running a tropical fish business, I suspect this is true. Her postings date back well into her active duty time. That could be a problem for her.

It’s labeled classified because it IS classified.

May I kindly ask you a slightly different question than I posted above?

Has ANYONE or any entity in the USA ever been prosecuted for further disseminating classified information that has already been made public in a significant manner?

I can’t think of any such instances, tho’ I could be wrong. In any event, there is the Law, and then there is prosecutorial discretion based on precedent. I’m not trying to make a point - at least not yet; I’m just curious about precedent(s).

This is aside from any issue of alteration or forgery.

That photo you see is from January when it was put online for gamers, how do you know the military is still maintaining its old classification?

And how can you be so serious as to think people are getting in trouble for posting it now? Haven’t you seen it in all the news articles and on TV by now?

Only people who are against the administration get prosecuted. MSM is blameless because people out there say, “that’s old news.”

I worked with classified information at all levels for over 30 years and I’ve had to sign the forms and agree with the penalties for stuff like this. I still have a huge expandable folder in which I still keep copies.

Um, I’m not asking about now, I’m asking about precedent. That is, how aggressively were the rules pursued when security came before political football? Did prosecutions EVER go as far as the media, because surely there were instances where media opposed to an administration rehashed / further disseminated / published security leaks that had become known to at least some of the public.

My personal experience with documenting and handling classified information told me that I needed to keep every piece of paper/receipt and acknowledgements I signed because security doesn’t always do their job completely and their records sometimes are lax to say the least - government installations are the worst offenders because no one really controls them like they do with industrial security under NISPOM, IMO.

I further realized that if they (e.g., government oversight) wanted to get or punish you by removing your clearance, etc. (or worse) they could easily do so.

I learned very quickly when security tagged me (or tried to) about a document I was supposed to have to tell them, “show me a receipt with my signature on it.”
