Kansas City, Mo. Mayor Quinton Lucas (D) said early Wednesday that the recent shooting of 16-year-old Ralph Yarl “has everything to do with race.”
Police say Yarl was shot twice by Andrew Lester, an 84-year-old white homeowner, after the Black teenager accidentally went to the wrong address to pick up his younger brothers.
“This defendant, in the probable cause statement, is indicated to have said that he was afraid of Ralph because he is a tall, Black man,” Lucas told “CNN This Morning” on Wednesday.
“He thought he was in some way menacing or scary. I don’t think that was true,” Lucas said.

I refuse to read articles where "white" is uncapitalized, yet "black" is.

I’m sure it does. Over his 85 years of life or the time he spent in that neighborhood, no telling how many times he was threatened or broken into. He overreacted, but no 85 yo is going to get up and say “today I’m going to shoot a black kid”

The OLD white man (emphasis on OLD, and I do mean OLD not just “senior” who looks like he’s 45) proabably should be charged with something. Seems he shot first rather than verifying status.
But not “1st degree”. Ridiculous. It was an apprehensive scared move. Not pre-meditated.
What these jackasses SHOULD be asking as part of their endless insistence on “conversation” is WHY was this old white man scared? Because of statistics and his own experience?

If you go up on somebody’s porch at at time of the evening when civilized persons and the employed have retired for the evening, and start yanking on the door handle, expect to get shot.

This is why it is always better to kill the intruder than wound him. Dead intruders do not tell lies about “just ringing the doorbell.”
But, at least, we can rest easy knowing the Mayor has tainted the jury pool against the old white guy.

It’s really not even about all the sympathy for the kid who got shot. That’s terrible and the old man will pay for it unless there are some other circumstances that come to light.
What I can’t stand is the one-sided attention in cases like this. The scum media and all the race baiters practically canonize the black victims - even when undeserved (Michael Brown). I’d say there’s less than a one thousandth of a percentage of attention when it’s black perpetrators who victimize other races. Maybe because these crimes are so common compared to the vice versa? Whatever the case, it’s just more than I can stomach.
Because he witnessed years of BLM riots, cities burned, people assaulted and NO police intervention. Because Dems are not punishing criminals and in fact are letting criminals out of jail. Many people do not feel safe because of this.
Da boy mayor, Quinton, moonlights as a community race-baiting agitator when he’s not living off the taxpayer’s dime. What a racist scumbag.
