Semi-automatic rifle ban passes Washington state Legislature

A ban on dozens of semi-automatic rifles cleared the Washington state Legislature on Wednesday and the governor is expected to sign it into law.

The high-powered firearms — once banned nationwide — are now the weapon of choice among young men responsible for most of the country’s devastating mass shootings.

The ban comes after multiple failed attempts in the state’s Legislature, and amid the most mass shootings during the first 100 days of a calendar year since 2009.

The Washington law would block the sale, distribution, manufacture and importation of more than 50 gun models, including AR-15s, AK-47s and similar style rifles. These guns fire one bullet per trigger pull and automatically reload for a subsequent shot. Some exemptions are included for sales to law enforcement agencies and the military in Washington. The measure does not bar the possession of the weapons by people who already have them.

The law would go into effect immediately once it’s signed by Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee, who has long advocated for such a ban.

1) When were they banned nationwide?
2) Some of the young men aren't young men, so please don't mis-gender.
3) I believe most mass shooting are committed by black people with pistols. They just don't get media coverage so much.

Should say “The weapon of choice for demonically possessed people who think they are the opposite sex and hate Christians.

They are no more “high powered” than other rifles of the same caliber,

And NO, most mass shootings are not committed with guns on the list- that is a flat out lie- but then again the ap has never been known as an honest newspaper.

Znd that is exactly why we have the second amendment- to protect us agaisnt all enemies, both foreign and domestic. He Washington legislature is about to endanger the citizenry, and should be thrown out of office for failure to uphold their oath to protect citizens

I noticed that they had managed to cram 3 lies into one sentence, but you beat me to it. (A .223 isn't high-powered, they were never banned nationwide, and they aren't the weapon of choice among young men responsible for most mass shootings.).

As defined by some Experts-Who-Define-Such-Things, the majority of mass shootings involve Black males between the ages of 15 and 35 shooting pistols at other Black males for a variety of reasons, but since that happens just about every day, it's generally ignored by the media.

In the largest mass shooting of unarmed civilians in US History, it was agents of the US gov't doing the shooting (Wounded Knee South Dakota, December 29, 1890).

The NorthWest moron factory is attacking the Bill of Rights. Washingtonians need to sue the bass turds or at least remove the legislature entirely.

Not really. They may be banned, but they aren’t trying to take the ones in circulation. There are plenty of them here in peoples homes. Hell, everyone of my closest neighbors have at least one. I might even have one…or six.

I’m hopeful that this action along with this weeks vote in the US House by every single dimocRAT not to protect our daughters who participate in sports will be a catalyst for change in this blue hellhole. The dimocRAT war on women will be their downfall.

It’s going to be very interesting to see what Soccer Moms do once it sinks into their thick heads that the party they worship, the dimocRAT politburo, hates their guts and wish they would all transform into males.

“Young men” my ass. They’re public school students or former public school students, non-Americans, drug dealers and trannies.

According to the article:

“The Attorney General’s Office has confirmed that at least two semi-automatic weapons currently on the market will remain available: the Ruger 10/22 carbine and the Stoeger M3000 sporting shotgun.”

Unconstitutional.
Why?
“Caetano v Massachusetts” SCOTUS 9-0 decision. Massachusetts lost.
