Russia is in the midst of a historic population decline as it continues to grapple with low birth rates, high emigration, staggering health statistics and a deadly war in Ukraine. The growing crisis has been described by some as a "silent war" against its own human capital.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has listed Russia’s declining population as a matter of national security, but his recent war in Ukraine has not only led to hundreds of thousands of additional deaths among fighting-age men but has pushed a mass exodus among Russia's younger populations.
Western defense officials have estimated that as many as 250,000 Russian soldiers have died in Ukraine, and some reporting has suggested that up to 1 million people have fled Russia since the war began – particularly following Putin’s conscription order in September 2022.

I do not think that the Ukraine war is too popular in Russia.
Is 250k correct or not?
Name a white country not in serious demographic decline...
“hundreds of thousands of additional deaths among fighting-age men”
That is some strong copium/hopium, Fox News. Just how active has The Ghost of Keev been? Did she get rebooted or something?
Russia has less population than Bangladesh.
I don’t see how they can keep up this war based on their population and size of their economy.
The classified US docs that the young USAF Airman released in chats indicated numbers in the 50k range IIRC. Or at least something substantially less than 250k.
The only thing we are sure of, is that in war, the first casualty is the truth.
Russia has AAAA problems:
* Aging population
* AIDS ridden
* Abortion rampant
* Alcoholism everywhere
Any one of those could bring a society to its knees. Russia must solve all four to survive.
Sounds like a familiar set of problems. Are they also doing child trannies and fentanyl? If so, it should be a race for solutions.
According to the latest data compiled by Statista, the number of abortions recorded in Russia reached over 2 million in 2000 and dropped to over 550,000 in 2020. The abortion rate has been steadily decreasing since 2020, although it remains high overall. - https://www.newsweek.com/abortion-legal-russia-how-us-compares-other-nations-1702904
In 2013 1 million abortions were performed, 28 abortions per 1000 women aged 15–49.[40] In 2021 the number had reached approx. 400k, decreasing by a factor of 10 since 1990, with the rate per 1000 women aged 15–49 dropping to 12.[36] - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abortion_in_Russia#Statistics
Then there is contraceptive use:

The pill is popular in Western Europe, Australia, several countries in Africa, and the southern part of South America. Male condoms are the top method in Russia, much of Eastern Europe, and some countries in Africa, among others. Injectables are the top choice in parts of Africa
It wouldn’t be the first time. Russia lost millions in WWI, more millions in the Red/White civil war, more millions in the 1930s purges, and more millions in WWII—and no rise in population during the postwar era under Stalin & Khrushchev. What is amazing is that the population is so low, but that it is as high as it is.
What a slop Putler has been for his Russia & probably too naive to see it.
It is a good thing that the 250,000 dead misstatement is about Russians, because if Fox accidentally said that 250,000 Ukrainians had been killed, then the pro-Russia posters would be stating it as fact for months to come.
Japan and China decided to emulate the West.
In the next few years India will overtake China in population and it’s on the way to becoming #3 in GDP.
I mentioned on another thread that my wife’s relatives in Philippines are seeing an influx of Russian (mostly young) families.
Russia is a nation of serfs. World Wars. Revolution. Communism. They haven't recovered from all of that.
I wonder exactly when China will invade Russia.
