Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke by telephone on Wednesday Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelenskiy for the first time since Russia's invasion of Ukraine last year, after months of pressure from Kyiv for such talks.
Xi told Zelenskiy that China would send special representatives to Ukraine and hold talks with all parties seeking peace, Chinese state media reported.
Xi, the most powerful world leader to have refrained from denouncing Russia's invasion of Ukraine, made a state visit to Russia last month. Since February, he has promoted a 12-point peace plan for Ukraine, greeted with scepticism from the West but cautiously welcomed by Kyiv.

Hopefully, China will send arms & troops to Russia and Russia will completely erase Ukraine as a nation.
Xi probably wants Zelenskyyyy (gesundheit!) to trade for some Russki POWs to blow up their Chinese spy balloons for him.
More than likely the Peace deal Zelensky turned down last month……Eastern/ Central Ukraine is in rubble, with very few men to rebuild.
It wouldn’t surprise me if China brokers a Peace deal, partially funds it ( for a slice of the Ukies resources) AND supplies the companies and manpower for rebuilding.
Ukraine is now a 100 percent welfare nation, totally dependent on the West for survival….I would love to see Xi make the Peace, the West knows only War.

Russian power has been humiliated before the world. It’s Potemkin army beaten into retreat and reduced to mass murder of civilians in the historical Russian way. It’s flagship cruiser sunk to the bottom of the Black Sea by a nation with no navy. It’s best soldiers dead in fields of Ukraine and replaced by paroled prisoner slaves.
Why wouldn’t Putin want a deal and to go back to business as almost usual with his American Democrat and WEF/EU allies? They’ve got much bigger fish fry than a side show Ukraine: us.

The US has ceded it’s position to China. We had the opportunity to broker a peace deal but we decided that fanning the flames in a conflict where the USA had no compelling interests and risked engaging us in a wider conflict was a solid and smart policy. Now China will broker a peace where ... surprise! ... China is the winner. They will get exclusive access to various commodities, commodities WE need, under the guise of providing both sides a ‘soft landing’, bet on it.

This war has been going on since 2014. Ukraine is not winning. Support for the war is diminishing in Europe and the US. Biden would like to see the war gone before the 2024 election. Russia has the leverage. They are not going to make any major concessions.
FYI: There is no going back for Russia or the West. We slept-walked our way into a new Cold War. We are in the midst of a global political realignment. There will be no business as usual.

Before the war, Ukraine was already a poor country. Its GDP per capita income was $14,300, just $100 more than Cuba. And the corruption was/is among the worst in the world.
The US and Europe will pay for the reconstruction and the materials for rebuilding will be purchased from China.
Peace without all of Ukraine returned is suicide for Zelenski and others in government.

Why would Marxist Democrats want a Cold War with America hating Russians? They have literally the same goals: destroying American Exceptionalism and sovereignty.
The biggest country in the world has been attacking Ukraine for over a year. Genocidally stealing their children, murdering their civilians and destroying their cities in a Hitlerian manner. Putin and his surrogates have been quite clear they believe Ukraine to be part of Russia. Is Ukraine still Ukraine? Yes. Then that’s a win for them.
Ukraine has many neighbor countries with a shared history of misery and death gifted to them by Russia. They’ll always help Ukraine regardless of how much Americans Democrats want to collude with Russia. Poland has ordered 1000 tanks. Do you think they care what Biden or Trump says? No. This fight is existential for every independent neighbor of the Russian empire. All of them know if they do not fight Russia now they will come for their children. Again.
No European country can really stop Marxist American Democrats and the WEF/EU wanting to partner with Putin’s Russia. Kerry said it out loud recently on climate change scam: “We have to find a way to work with Russia”.
